"Respectful" but not moved

Well if that's what it takes to get people to talk about this sad occurance then so be it. Seems people want to bash me instead of the sorry mother ****er that did this. I'm just talking about something that happened close to home so ***?
 
I didn't realize that there was already a thread when it was stated that there was a "respectful" thread on general guns. I didn't realize I was being "disrespectful" in what I was saying. But I think you all are missing the big point here. That's a shame.

No I think you are missing the point. Your original post had lots of "****" in it, meaning you knew your intended word was out of line.

The profanity, even disguised with "******" isn't particularly respectful when talking about the murder of people.

And it wouldn't make sense to move your thread since it was opened at 6:30pm and the other one was opened at 1:30. The other one was there first.

My original point was to explain to you guys what happened. I have a good friend who is a deputy that called me throughout the day to inform me of what was going on. I thought I would share some of this info with my "friends" on THR.

I think you are outraged and looking for a fight with someone, anyone.

I frankly don't know that these thread serve any purpose to the RKBA.

Really, what is it really discussing?

That horrible things happen in our world? Yeah, they do... every day.

That there are a lot of evil people in our world? Yeah, there are plenty.

That this is a very senseless, evil, horrible, and disheartening act? Yes, it is.

That we should be angry over it? Yes, but I won't tell someone how to express themselves.

But I'd much rather see a thread on a RKBA advocate site that HELPS our cause, not shakes the resolve of some who may be coming by to explore thier views.

Well, since we both post at a web forum that is private property, and the owner specifically says he doesn't want that here, I guess we'll see how that works out.

Apparently I'm not stupid since I can read the rules of this place, and I understand that the "First Amendment" doesn't apply to private property.

These are the stories that the antis are eating up and are going to cite. We need to know both sides of the argument, that's my 2 cents as to what purpose these threads about gun misuse are important.

As for dougie, I'm not your "friend." Follow the rules or leave.

We all appreciate the magnitude of the tragedy. You don't have to "convince" us.

Despite my own complaints about the "PC" police on this site, my membership on this forum outweighs my desire to express myself as I would with my closest friends.

Thus... I will pretend to be a soccer dad and say "please" and "thank you". You will learn to do the same or else...

Hiya... if I may, let me re-state myself. I don't think I expressed my intent as I wanted.

What I was getting to was that I'd like to see us put effort into sorting out the details, insuring that these horrible events are covered in a realistic light.

Granted, we do that on THR pretty consistently.

I had an inside view of what happened here today and thought I would share it and clear up any rumors, but you are too busy trying to start a fight with me, not the other way around. Yes, I am outraged at what happened, but not at you people. I don't want to start anything with anyone. But I have been bashed since my first post on this subject. I don't have that many posts because I don't speak about things I do not know. I DO know about this and once again, thought I would share this horrible story with all of you. Seriously, feel for the people that this happened to....have some sympathy.
 
After reading the last few posts (after posting my last one), I will gladly take the "or else". I don't think I've done anything wrong here. I was trying to share this story with what I thought were adults.

And I'm not your "friend" either SpecialK.

While I understand that you are upset, you need to realize that the reaction you are getting has more to do with your handling of the closed thread than the contents of either thread.

I can even-- possibly-- understand the starting of this thread. You didn't know that this was already discussed.

However, when that was pointed out to you, you didn't let up on your original anger/venting/etc. You just re-directed it. That usually tells me that you needed some kind of response that would satisfy that emotional response. It would be better just to let this drop and post on the other thread.

The truth is, and this is likely to piss you off even more, is that it really doesn't matter.

Guns are used to commit horrible violent criminal acts all the time. In the scheme of things this one isn't any different.

A nutcase took his anger out on innocents with a firearm.

The details don't change that.

Continuously talking about every violent act committed with a firearm does not help advance the sport of shooting, or the Second Amendment.

It clearly hits close to home with you, and I'm sorry if someone you knew was personally involved in this, but in the big picture it's just one more nut with a gun.

Knowing the details won't bring any one back, won't likely prevent something similar in the future, and won't change the minds of the anti gun politicians and lobbyists out there.
 
If this guy really wanted to "be respectful" and tell his story he'd be posting in the thread already under discussion instead of trolling in this one.

Maybe if we all ignore him he'll go away

The point is that we don't 'bash' on this forum.

We just don't.

There is no profit in dragging the sorry sack of crap that did this thru the mud; we do not put peoples heads on pikes (no matter how tempting it may be). There is no profit in asking why these things happen, because there is no knowing and there is no comfort there. There is no profit in purient voyeurism into the tools used. There is no profit in wild speculation on the political outcome, and we will not use the blood of the dead to further our own worldview of an armed society.

In sum - there is very little, except perhaps a sober and dispassionate discussion in Strategies-n-Tactics about how folk can deal with active-shooter incidents, that can be discussed here in THR that has any profit at all.

Shutting down these threads is not personal, and we take no pleasure in it. It is simply necessary to keep THR focused.
