In an episode of Terra Nova an EMP knocks out all their futuristic weaponry. Later on the bartender shoots an intruder with a revolver (too lazy to find a video to check the make). The best part was he said something like "glad that worked I only had the one bullet"

In the new game by EA and DICE, called Battlefield 3, two revolvers can be used in play, the MP412 Rex, and some sort of .44 Magnum, the .44 Magnum can come scoped or with iron sights. I'd like to know what kind of revolver the .44 is.

ETA: I think it's a model 629, but not sure. A Taurus tracker looks similar as well.

Can you believe I'm almost 30 and this is the first time I've seen "Last Action Hero"? Man what a fun, dumb, movie. Charles Dance's super-assassin uses a custom target model S&W:

Dan Ackroyd (an assassin in this movie)uses two revolvers in blowing away a bunch of people at the start of the movie -wow! Forgot the name of it but mcucho gunplay and I loved thos ebig six shooters -couldnot figure out wha tthey were though.

Sounds like his roll in Grosse Point Blank:

You got it!! Thre is an iuncredible amount of shooting in this flick-but this kill at the beginning is really something!
Anyone Know what the guns are? Movie S&W's ??? They have scope mounts on the barrels.

That's because he cannot die and thus can afford to carry less rounds than most of us. :D

Just watched killer elite. One of the main guys buddies was using a revolver..... Till he got taken out by the new kid.

Dangit BBQ! I just found this thread, and was excited when by page 4 no one had yet to mention Sarno, that was going to be my post! +1 and high five to you instead :D i LOVE that gun-fight scene, everyone clearly knows what they are doing.

Trying to remember, there was a Chow Yun Fat movie where he was REALLY talented with a revolver. Usually he's seen with a Beretta 92 or two, but in this flick he was a cop carrying a not-quite-snub but shorter bbl'd DA wheelgun in a world of semi-autos. He frequently made shots that were the equivalent to shooting a nail into a board. One of those times he had to blow the lock on a door or something, so he actually dissected one of his rounds, put the powder where he wanted it, then put the primed-case in a crack and shot it... which did exactly what he wanted it to of course :) I also remember him rescuing a baby towards the end, which puts him at a disadvantage, and he once again makes an insane shot with the wheel-gun... I've been googling trying to find it as I write this, will continue and edit with title if I find it

On the show Blue Bloods (decent show with good morals) Tom Selleck pulls out what appears to be a snub 37 chiefs model on more than one occasion. It is I guess supposed to be befitting him, however I grew up watching Magnum PI and still expect to see him with a 1911. ;)

Jesse Stone "Benefit of the Doubt"

Selleck carries a short bbl custom 1911 in his role as the Police Chief of Paradise-in a new Jesse Stone TV movie last nite he popped a sniper who was trying to plug him with what looked lke a Marlin guide gun supposedly in 308 (with removeable night scope). The Chief put 7 x45 slugs in the bad guy -he made sure he was a goner! Good flashlight technique too!
This thread sort of got into some slightly off topic stuff -maybe not revolver Luddite, but I am a Luddite so there!! Love it!

Looks like Colin Farrell will be carrying a Chiappa Rhino in the new Total Recall movie

Hmm, if that's true, I may have to upgrade my expectation for this movie from "total disdain" to "cautiously optimistic". I love revolvers in sci-fi, it's a real weakness.... hence the whole point of this thread.

Finally! It's about time those wheelguns start showing up in cinema :) Honestly, film is the best use for them (because they're so dead sexy, not because they don't shoot)

TCB

^^^Amen on the prospects of the movie, though. Perhaps they should just call it...TOTAL REMAKE!!!:D

'Course, I kinda like this one, too. I've watched Outlaw Jose Wales probably over 100 times, just never get enough. :D It has to be the most run movie on dish network. LOL

I do realize, though, these were modern guns in the time periods in which these movies were made. Still, no movie revolver thread is complete in MY mind, even one with "Luddite" in the title, without Harry Callahan and Jose Wales.....

Although this guy may not be a luddite (he's in an alternate reality), I always liked the short piece -- "Detective Story" -- in The Animatrix. A few moments before this, we saw him do a reload behind cover while under fire from three agents.

All my best,

Just watched the movie Texas Killing Fields (very grim) and the older detective carried a big SW - might have been a Model 19 or some N frame.

Didn't work out well for him but a phaser won't have helped.
