Here is my snub nose Service-Six:

I only have two Security Sixes, a 2-3/4" and a 4". Both of them are a pleasure to shoot and the 2-3/4" makes for a very nice carry gun.

I bought the grips, then I found a gun for them.......

Found a rare pair of Farrant grips at a gunshow for $15 (the seller didn't know what they were, or what gun they were for). I knew they weren't for a S&W, and guessed they might be for a Ruger. After confirming that on a friend's gun, I watched on gunbroker, and got a very nice Security Six from before the "warning", and could not have acquired a better .357. Even with the still stiff action, it shoots like a dream, and is my only .357. ...................................................................................

My scarred up Security Six. Saw her looking desperate in a used gun case. She'd been sitting there for nearly a year, neglected and overlooked due to her disfiguring scars on her right side.
I took her home for about $190.00 OTD. She's got a great action, very accurate, and very reliable. She handles full tilt .357mag loads (DT and BB 158gr loads, specifically) like a dream.
She now wears Pachmyer grips and is my hiking/woods carry gun and even pulls nightstand duty pretty frequently.
I love having a gun where I don't have to care about the finish!

NYPD Service Six .38 Special.

When I was first shooting, I had all Smiths, my buddy had a Ruger Security Six. I liked it, but, it just wasn't a "Smith and Wesson".

I'm now a bunch older and smarter and appreciate what a fine revolver Ruger makes. I own and SP-101, an SPNY the Service Six and an Old Army. And, I now actively look for the old Six series.
