I just got a .17HMR/20ga. from CDNN. I won't have to worry about the wrong gun at the wrong time anymore. the .17 HMR is accurate I shot a 4 in. grouping at 100yds. with open sights.

I think it was 339.00; the Savage website had it retailing for around 600.00 It is the brand new style with synthetic furniture. It'll be the end of some coyotes this year too. I've heard that a .17 will reach out and kill a 'yote at 150yds due to the high velocity and flat trajectory. I'll find out this winter.

Congrats. Sounds like a GREAT prairie dog killer, bird hunter, etc. BUT. The .17HMR, though it will certainly kill a coyote, is very marginal in that use due to the fragility of the bullets. And I certainly wouldn't try it at 150 yards - maybe 50 or 75 at most - you need to have an excellent shot placement in order to not wound the animal (of the size of a coyote). Please - get a .223, .222, .221 fireball, .22 hornet, .19 calhoun hornet, .204 ruger, or even a .17 Rem loaded with more solid bullets, so as not to contribute to giving hunters a bad name by wounding an animal. Gives you an excuse to get another gun. Heck, I'll loan you a gun, as I live just up the road. The .17 is not that powerful of a round, and just explodes when it hits something, and if that something is bone, you have not made a clean kill on a yote. Just my .02. PM on the subject if you want more info... :)

I agree with Gungoboom, the 17hmr is a poor choice on game bigger than the smallest small game. I have heard more horror stories about the 17 not killing things than any other caliber I know of.

Congrats

How well does the gun point/feel? I like the idea but haven't had a chance to handle one. The picture on the website makes them look bulky.

It is balanced and not bulky; I like the way it feels more than some other shotguns I have. I actaully have a Sako Forrester in 22-250. But I don't want to damage the pelts; I trap an tan hides.
