One thing that I find quite odd is that in the 2nd amendment it refers to arms, however the conversation has been shifted to specifically address guns and not arms. For instance, nunchuks, switchblades, et cetera are all illegal. Knives with a blade over 6" are illegal...

Well, what if the day comes when there are real phasers / plasma rifles / rail guns / disruptors - whatever the hell you want to call them. I mean, to an extent they are already here, but everyone seems to have this BS understanding that it is a military / police weapon only...

The 2nd amendment is clear, regulating ARMS isn't supposed to be allowed, but unbeknownst to everyone, they have been regulating the crap out of them. What happens when they stop making guns in favor of the PHASER PLASMA RIFLE???

You can have the right to bear GUNS, but if they ain't around anymore, *** can you do?

HAHAHAHA

Well, I thought it interesting that we at least try to get our foot in the door. "Get there firstest with the mostest".

By the time man-portable beam weapons are common, if ever they are, the Second Amendment will be little more than a historical curiosity from a fallen empire.

I say this with respect, sir:

God forbid. I pray that I would have turned to dust and blown away in the wind before I see the colors folded for the last time.

And if this should attempt to come to pass in my lifetime, I--and my whole family, more than likely--will be found shot to rags with smoking guns in our hands, clutching the Flag of the United States in our dead hands.

No, sir. I can say with all forthrightness and honesty that the idea conjured by your post has literally made be break down in tears.

This, I defend...until the last breath is gone from my body; until my blood runs out on the ground; as long as I have the strength in my hands to pull a trigger; to wield a knife; to grapple, even to bite, the colors of the United States shall wave on. Even if I have to chain myself to a flagpole to do it.

No sir. Let's not give up on our Nation yet. I'm sorry, I can't write anymore right now.

We will both be long dead, I’m sure, and while our empire will fall, as all empires do, our flag may still fly even then. However, our descendants will probably count themselves lucky if the quaint Second Amendment still “allows” them to keep their single-shot .22-LR rifles secured at the local shooting club.

I've read ( do not recall details ) that one state (Mich or Wis IIRC ) has already outlawed "phasers"

+1....I'll be right there with you!!

Firearms have been around since the Chinese invented gunpowder.....it's not too far fetched to imagine a time when firearms as we know them may be replaced with future technologies. For that matter, tasers and pepper spray weren't around 25 years ago....

....as long as man continues to harm others, there will always be a need for weaponry. It may take a different form, but right to arm & defend ones self (and family) against such oppression won't change.

The same analogy could be made with the first amendment.....founding fathers never envisioned the porn and sex industry as freedom of speech. Yet it's protected.

The "RAIL Gun" is something that will be on future battle ships. HERF (High Energy Radio Frequency) Guns, DEW (Directed Energy Weapons), Ultra Sonic weapons are all a reality today. They may be big and bulky, however the science is real.

The point stills stands. The founders clearly outlined the fact that WE have a right to keep and bear arms.

Interesting that one of the posts talked about the interpretation of the 1st amendment. The Founders said FREEDOM OF THE PRESS, not FREEDOM OF ALL MEDIA. That being said, they want to interpret (ANTI's do) that PRESS means MEDIA and MILITA means Police.... Interesting eh....

Anyway, I say we start the debate today. Then, supposing that they come around, we have a clear advantage.

may find me dead in a ditch,

to quote an upcoming artwork by someone on THR:

....but it will be in a pile of spent casings.

Powderman I'll be right beside ya,

Do you mean to suggest that this is the natural progression of things? That the barbarians with their evil battle rifles will fade to dusty ignominy, against superior progressive utopian fantasies? That our "empire", will go the way of much more civilized Europe? :barf:

...and by much more civilized, I mean beset by hordes of angry car-burning youths.

...or, perhaps I am in need of a palliative of "the brand name which is not to be mentioned".
