i have an ar-15 that has a quad railed hand guard along with a flat top upper.

i've mounted the scope rings so that one ring is on the flat top upper and the other ring is mounted on the hand guard to give me the best eye relief..so my question is: is this ok?? or should the rings be on the same rail?

here's a picture of it

it is fine as long as they are on the same plane and you trust the handguard rail to be stiff enough to not flex during firing.

it appears to be, and if it were mine i'd shoot it to see if the scope will zero... but i am not an expert on ar-15's - i just have a few and didn't need to stray off the flat-top rail to get the eye relief i needed.
