I dont know much about 10/22's so I was hoping you guys can tell me what you think this setup is worth on the private seller market. Round count is "low" but lets just say 1,500 just to have a number.

Ruger 10/22 receiver (Blue)

CPC bolt with Jewelling

18" inch stainless Steel ER Shaw bull barrel

Green Hogue stock

Skeeter trigger and V-block

Trigger internals are VQ (trigger brakes at about 2.25 lbs)

Mueller 4.5x14x40 AO scope

Leupold low 1" rings

Extended mag relese

Over sized bolt handle (with ruger emblem)

Thanks for the help guys, I am new to the 10/22 department and just want a big brother to help me out with the purchase.

:):):)

Like custom Jeeps, Hotrods, and Harley's custom .22's normally only increase in (sellable?) value for pennies on the dollar you invest. I wouldn't give over $400 for ANY custom 10/22. My $tricked$ 10/22 only shoots as good as my $50 Marlin 60 with a home trigger job using the same scope. Most of the "cool" 10/22 tricks are fixes for Ruger's poor design. My $400 does not include optics............

Personally I find the cosmetic stuff boring and worthless, but if you like to show off your tools then more power too ya!:)

I'd add up all the parts added, leave all the cosmetic stuff off. Take half of that parts added number and add that to a $200 gun. That should be a liberal number to think about. Most of the value in a custom .22 is the fun you had building it. To go from 2" patterns to .5" patterns at 50yds costs a lot of cash and really doesn't add to the fun factor a whole lot IMO.

Many will disagree, but that is what makes this America! In the end it is worth what you are willing to pay for it.

I am not totally up on prices, as I have not done any conversion work to 10.22's in a while, but you got what looks to be about 700 bucks worth of stuff there...

I put it at substantially less than the previous poster. Maybe 490.00-525.00
A gun with less bells and whistles will shoot every bit as well. The barrel is crucial. Much of the rest is fluff.
You could build your own or find another capable of equal groups for less.
I've never been comfortable with Hogue stocks.

JMHO!

Buy and build your own 10/22. You can get the stuff to make it shoot and not bother with the "bling." In the words of the great AMU Master Armorer Hook Boutin, "Pretty doesn't make a gun shoot good."

Dave

I spent a lot of time with 10/22's and I can say that despite the cost of building one is way more than what the return would be if you sold it.. I'd pay about $350 and that's be it.. However custom rifles are that, custom to the user, so it may not fly with someone else.

$350 including the scope?

"Custom" means it was built by a craftsman for the owner, to the owner's specs, NOT modified by the owner himself, that's "customized". Two different things. And no matter what you've done to it, and how YOU value it, there ain't nobody gonna pay even HALF of what you've spent on it.

I was trying to price out everything, but im getting stuck on a few items. How does this look? Am I in the right ball park? Anyone? Anyone?

Ruger 10/22 receiver (Blue) ???

CPC bolt with Jewelling $50

18 inch stainless ER Shaw barrel $100

green Hogue stock $50

Skeeter trigger and V-block $50

trigger internals are VQ ???

Mueller 4.5x14x40 AO scope $120

Leupold low 1" rings $15

extended mag relese ???

Over sized bolt handle w/ruger emblem $70 ( I think ???

The receiver is about $100 (complete rifle minus barrel/stock which is sold seperately by the builder, usually)

The VQ, that can vary wildly.. Check out the VQ site, if it is a complete VQ trigger group then that's about $240, if it is just the internals, then maybe 100. https://www.volquartsen.com/category/16/10

I'd like to add that it's kind of strange that it has VQ internals and Skeeter trigger, because..? They are both trigger kits so I'd try to find clarification on this.

Mag Release, $15 max depending on who made it I'd say..

As the comment on the scope, I personally do not buy guns with scopes on them becuase I am very particular with scopes and yes my $350 is reflected without the scope, just an clarification.

Also, new prices don't really work out on selling a used gun, you probably will have better luck breaking it up to sell, Especially on sites like www.rimfirecentral.com acutally, go there and post and ask of the valuation of your 10/22 you will get a lot of help there.

I've done many 1022 builds! I priced it out based on my experiences in my first post of the thread.

Cabelas has 10/22's on sale for $180. I would just build my own so you know what you are starting with.

This is what was told to me:

" The internals are VQ. The trigger shoe is a Skeeter, the shoe is the part you put your finger on, its not odd at all to do that. I go with whatg ever trigger feels the best to me "

We run into this in the motorcycle world, too. People put tons of "farkles" on their motorcycles, and plan on getting back a high value on them.

Experience has taught us that in order to get the most $$$ back out of these farkles, it's best to sell them seperately from the bike. In this case, you're best off putting back on the stock items and selling everything piece meal.

That's why I always save my OEM parts when I take them off. I can then return my rifle to standard form and get more money for everything.

Plus, you're more likely to find buyers for the individual items. If you sell it as a package, the buyer has to be interested in most or all of the items you've upgraded. What if they hate Hogue stocks, or at least in green?

I'm the one buying the rifle, he was asking $650 with the scope and $550 without the scope, I offered $485 with the scope and he accepted 2 days later. Considering everything that was put into the rifle, it seems that im getting the better half of the deal. I just wanted to confirm this, but it seems nobody can put together a real price list for me, or if they do it seems to be way off. I did speak with a member off rimfirecentral.com and he priced it out to be in the ball park of $750.
