I sent my Ruger .44 carbine off to get bedded. When I got it back home and tried to shoot it I noticed the bolt won't come all the way forward. It will go most of the way, and the bolt face will rotate, but it won't close. When the trigger is pulled it will go "click" but the firing pin won't touch the primer on a round.

Before I take it back to the shop is there anything I can do or check to troubleshoot this problem?

I can post pictures later today.

No rub marks in the bedding. THe bedding is only below the piston block and it doesn't touch any moving parts. It looks like the op-rod (or whatever they call it) is going all the way forward.

I'm going to ask if the smith disassembled the bolt. There is no reason to for what was done, but who knows.
