I've read several posts regarding this issue, but nobody seems to have a answer, other than, "send it back to Ruger". Frankly I'm going to take it back where I bought it, and sell it for a loss. My SR40 shoots awful, and jams non-stop. My wife's SR9 is just fine, but the .40 blows. It jams every time I pull the slide back. It's not a gun you want to have in an emergency. Hell, it's not a gun I want to have at the range. And it turns out, lots of people have this same problem. I'm Done!

I don't blame you for being disgusted. I had a handgun once (not a Ruger) that was lucky to fire two consecutive shots as well as chewing a hole in my hand, and got rid of it in the same fashion. But this is really not the best thing to do. In my experience, Ruger does stand behind their products - once repairing a nearly 40-year-old gun for me at no charge - and I feel you should give them at least one chance.

It may be a dud,if it is Ruger will stand behind it. I have the Ruger SR40 too. I have never had a FTF or jamb and I shoot hard cast SWC's,plated bullets, and jacketed reloads. This gun is very accurate. You can get trigger kits for the SR's just like the Glocks from Ghost Inc.

I'd at least give them the opportunity to make it right before I got rid of it. I watch rugerforum.com pretty closely & I haven't seen many posts about problems with the SR40.

Ok, thanks guys. I will call them and send it in and see what happens. It was just a really dissapointing day at the range. I wanted to dial this gun in, and I spent more time clearing it than I did shooting it. Happened the first time I took it out, so I cleaned and oiled it well. Was worse the second time. I'll see what Ruger has to say. Thanks
