Ruger Mark II extractor problem?

Hi folks,

Been lurking a while; first post. Cheers to you all!

Got a Ruger Mark II. As you might expect, supremely accurate and reliable, EXCEPT that lately I've devloped an extraction problem.

I know it's not a feed problem because it does it with single loads as well as full magazines. It catches the spent case and wedges it between the recoil spring guide and the fresh round.

The magazine is new, and I also just replaced the bolt stop pin (the thing that protrudes up through the receiver) because the collar where it pins onto the disassembly-plunger-lever deal was sheared.

Oddly, it seems to be malfunctioning worse with the new bolt-stop and the new factory magazines I've bought. (I had been using a Mark I magazine for years and bought a couple of new Mark II's when I ordered the bolt stop pin.)

Any wisdom on what might cause this sort of malfunction? The gun is as clean as it's been since I've owned it.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Wow, fantastic. Thanks XavierBreath. It's downstairs and out with the Dremel tool! Reckon I'll start with one mag and see what kind of results I get. I'm an inveterate grinder though, and once you get started it's hard to stop. You remember what the old carpenter said: "Dagnabbit! I've cut it three times and it's STILL too short!"
