I found what I consider to be a bargain in a Ruger Mk I .22 for less than 200.00. The magazine functions OK but is pretty ugly so I ordered a new Ruger Factory Mk I mag for Cheaperthandirt. I got it and much to my surprise it will not slide home into the grip of the pistol. Upon closer examination the knob that you use with your thumb to compress the spring for loading is on the opposite side.

***?

Did I buy the wrong model magazine?:banghead:

Some of them can be reversed.

Push the follower down with something until the button lines up with the take-down hole.

Pull the button out and put it back in the other side.

On my MkII magazines, a suitable probe goes into the hole in the floorplate, releasing the plate to slide off and everything internal to shake out. The button is removed via the circular hole at the bottom of the slot. Take advantage of the opportunity to clean everything inside and out and inspect everything prior to reassembling.

Try what rc said.
If it came in a Ruger package there should have been a piece of paper in there that told you that.
