Thank you so much for your replies ilmonster. I cant believe I stumbled on to this thread when I did. Don't want to bore you with the details, but I have a NYPD Model 10 that I has been on loan to me for a number of years from a retired NYPD friend of mine. Now that his sons have become NYPD Officers themselves, I feel strongly that one of them should have the gun back...though to be honest they don't seem to want it. I'm trying to convince them that....someday....it will have sentimental value as it was their dad's gun. For my part, i don't want to be without a basic 4 inch 38/357...so I thought perhaps I would give a Ruger a try. By all accounts the sixes are excellent guns...and I doubt the Milwaukee PD could have done anything to hurt these as they are supposed to be indestrutable. I hope to be able to get one shipped to NY (FFL fees and all) for $350 which is a reasonable price i think. When I get a call back I'm going to try and convince the manager to cherry pick one for me as I am buying sight unseen. Again thanks so much for your help. A very Happy New year to you!!!

My pleasure! I hope it works out. You should be able to do it for less than $350 (Gun $250, paperwork $20, shipping $20, NY FFL $35 = $325?) I love the story of your old S&W - hope that works out. Good luck!

I only WISH I could get it done here for $35.00. The transaction will cost me $75.00 here in NY. In the meantime I have also identified a six available at Ivanhoe in Mass. for $329.00 its rated very good plus...and Streichers hasn't called me back yet. Gonna give them another call and see what gives. The girl I spoke to originally didnt seem tho know much about guns. I want to get some more info from a manager if possible.

Thanks WNYCOLLECTOR. When I put in my zip code the second dealer that showed up is the one i am using for 75. I can't really blame them I guess., I am in NYC which as I'm sure everyone knows is very gun unfriendly. I can't imagine what the local fees are in NY to be an ffl.

Federal Agent...its one of the few perks of the job I suppose

If the deal on your Milwaukee PD Six falls through, take a drive upstate to some of our gunshows or gun shops. You will notice a HUGE drop in gun prices. Closer to NYC check out Davis Shooting Sports in Goshen. They usually have a great supply of ex-nypd revolvers.

Thanks!!!! I'm gonna call Davis and see what they might have

FWIW, I am very disappointed in Streichers. I've called three times over two days after leaving a message with the manager and no one has called me back. I guess they are too busy to deal with a prospective customer

I bought 4" blue .357 in the mid-80s and still have it, a great revolver.

I saw a NIB gun like mine on one of the auctions sites a few days ago, but they wanted something like $600 or $700 for it. I just went looking for it for the heck of it and here's the first thing I saw...

"Ruger Police service-six cal 380 rim/380 Revolver. Rare Ruger made for India Police Dept. Very seldom encountered in this caliber and configuration. Boxed along with original shipping box." - $995
