Yes, I did a search and one thread came up from last year. IIRC, The two pistols were new then. Seeing as it has been a little over a year, I would like to get opinions on them.
Of course, I am always open to options. How ever, I do have a few things I need it to be.
My price point being no higher than $700.
It has to be a .45 ACP.
I prefer adjustable sights, Not fixed.
Made in the USA.
Prefer 5' barrel
I know Rock Island makes a pretty decent 1911, But I am really leaning towards one of these two pistols. I have yet to see the Ruger SR 1911 at a LGS so I am going to have to call to see if anyone has one in stock.
And the fact that there USA made.
I know they have the Remington 1911 in.
The gun is going to be mainly a range gun. But would like for it to have potential because I would like to enter competition. I don't know if these pistols will do for competitions but I am fairly positive that a upgrade or two can help with that.
As for it being black or silver, I do like the stainless more but is not the default winner. What matters to me is quality, warranty and CS.
Yes, I know that if I went a few bucks more above $700, I could get a real good 1911. Sadly, That is the budget for now.
I have heard quite a bit of the quality of the Remington firearms not being so great. I do not own any so I cannot comment on that. I do how ever own a Ruger GP-100 and that thing can take a beating.
So far, The tid bit of reading I did on here and a search or two on google, Have been saying Ruger SR1911 all the way. My question to you THR is,
Which do you own?
Which do you prefer if you own both?
If you had one, and sold it, What was the reason?
Was it everything you expected it to be?
If you had to use CS, What was the issue and was it dealt with in proper way?
I can't think of any other questions but if you can think of any reasons why I should buy this one over that, Then please say it. I would like to make a informed decision about this. So far, I like the Remington R1 but am curious about the Ruger as well.
I know I said USA made but I am still open to other 1911 style pistols.
And thank you in advance, THR.
