Quick, somebody talk me out of buying this!

Seriously, have been looking at this gun for a while now and am ready to give my GP100 some company in the .357 breed. Anyone tried one of these yet? Whadda y'all think? Would be for a range gun, occasional woods carry and depending on how well I shoot it maybe could unseat the 'ol GP100 from the nightstand.

Do not walk, run and buy it. You need it and your life will be unfullfilled without it.:D :D

It is a great revolver, I've enjoyed mine now for about 2 years, much fun.

I have one just like you posted. I've really enjoyed it. Be sure to buy lots and lots of moonclips.

Part of me wishes S&W was making this puppy before I bought my 627:

Except the above "tactical" model uses a scandium frame, and I'd just as soon have all steel.

Cortland;

How much is one of those scandium models worth? There's a pawnshop near me with one for $829, without the doodads. I've been thinking of picking it up. It's in 95-98% condition.

I agree, you should buy it. I bought one about a year ago and it is extremely accruate. The action is silky smooth on mine. I love it!

Cortland, That's a awesome looking rig! I've always liked my wheelguns in stainless, but WOW I like the look of that tactical model. Now I'm going to have to find one of those to take a look at as well before I make a decision!:scrutiny:

I LOVE my PC 627-5...

The new 'tactical' model is kinda cool, but I already have a G23 with goodies for HD/SD.

What's wrong with a good ole's six gun, or seven gun for that matter and a handheld flashlight? If I need that much gear hanging off of my sidearm then chance are I need more then my sidearm.

That being said I had a 627 and it was a bit big for my, admittedly girly hands. I found my perfect revolver in the PC681.

I ain't going to be the one to do you dirt by talking you out of it. I have the V-comp and would love to add that version as well. In fact, I might even trade since I never use the comp.

Not just no, HELL NO

If you decide to compete, get the match moon clips, they hold the Federal, Remington and Starline brass MUCH more securely.

Also, save for ammo. Once you start shooting this thing, you'll find a giant sucking whirlpool in your wallet that will be you ammunition budget. Shooting the 627 is very addictive.

You guys weren't all that convincing in talking me out of buying this ;) So now I'm $850 poorer and loving it. Got the stainless vs. tactical model and thinking hard about adding a crimson trace grip.

After a long dry spell, I've been on a buying binge lately - this is my 2nd. performance center gun in 2 months (bought a 460V also) and I have to say I'm hooked good on their stuff. This 627 has about the silkiest action I've ever felt. It's also incredibly accurate - as was the 460 as well. My previous favorite gun was a '95 vintage 629 which used to seem exceptional. Lock and all, these new guns have raised that bar quite a bit.

Thanks so much for all the posts and comments on the 627.

Hey Ric, did you send your 627 back to S&W for the engraving or did someone else do it? Looks great either way... You have to tell me where you got the grips - are they Nills? I must have some for my 627...

Thanks,
Erud
