S & W Model 36 value?

i have a s&w model 36 .38 chiefs special sn J2122xx
original box, paperwork, wax paper.
one box of shells fired, and carried for about a week back in 1974, been in the safe since. condition is 96 to 98%
please advise what this handgun is worth

I paid $299 OTD for mine last spring. Identical condition. I have the nickel version in layaway for the same price right now.

From the pics, $325 is 'bout right on the money~!

a 1974 S&W model 36 isn't a collector's piece by any stretch, but you
do have the original box with doc's. Looks beautiful to me, as I just LUV
Smith & Wesson J-frames; so I think $325 is in the ballpark~! I am
allowing $25 extra dollars, cuz of the Barry O- meter~!
