Hello All,
I have 2 SA 1911 milspec pistols. One I carry daily, and had a reputable smith check it over for a reliablility job. I had no problems with the gun, but after 7 years of being cocked and locked in my head it was something I wanted checked.
Well, now for the concern. I'm not sure if the gunsmith put the wrong barrel back in my gun!?!?
Before it was a snug fit to get the barrel in the slide. Now it drops in easily. I also now notice the end of the barrel almost bevels out on the edge to a sharp point. This is opposed to my other 1911 with a rounded end of the barrel. It still says, "s.a. 45"
Springfield to my knowledge does not put the serial numbers on the barrels, but they do have a few numbers and letters on them. If I call Springfield Monday will they be able to match the exact barrel to my gun?
In the end, maybe I'm just forgetful, and what are the chances a legit gunsmith makes this mistake? To make it worse in my head, there are no wear marks on the barrel! I've shot at least 500 rounds through it, and on my other one that got shot 50 rounds there is more wear on the barrel than the one I got back.
