I am looking for a rifle to be a good all around rifle, for the rest of my life. Probably in 30-06 or 7mm. But cartridge is not the question. Is a rifle like the Sako A7 worth the extra $400 or so dollars over rifles such as Weatherby's Vanguard, TC Venture, Marlin XL7, etc. If I am going to spend $800 on the A7 should I just add $500 more and look at the Sako 85? I want to spend less than $1000, but for the right gun I would spend more. I want this to be my one and only real go to rifle, pronghorn, elk, moose, muley's, etc.
Come on THR, help me out.

Any of the mentioned rifles will last a lifetime with proper care and upkeep. It would depend on what you value as to whether or not the rifle would be worth the extra dough. That extra cash might not buy you into greater accuracy or reliability. You are paying for the overall fit and finish, warranty, and brand name. I would get hands on each rifle you are considering and compare them side by side. You will know if you should lighten your wallet further.
