So, what guns would Santa carry with him now, and what has he used in the past? Here is my take.

He started out in the late 1800's with a Colt SAA by his side, and an old double barrel coach gun in the sleigh. By the 1920s, he was packing a Colt M1911 .45, and the new Tommygun, able to fight off any mobsters, or cops trying to get his whiskey stash.

He used these until 1942, when the US military gave him a pretty awesome present, two P-51 Mustang escorts. After one of the planes was shot down over Germany, Christmas of '44, Santa demanded that the sleigh be outfitted with an M2 .50 cal as well.

Ol' Saint Nick sure was glad when the war ended (gunfire tends to scare reindeer). It wasnt until the 1960's that he again changed his gear. The P-51's had been replaced with F-4 Phantom fighter jets in 1968, and the following year, Santa decided to carry his very own M60, as well as a Mossberg 500 which he kept under the seat just in case those pesky Vietcong got too close.

He kept the same things from the 1970's through the '90's, though with all the new electronic gadgets kids wanted, he had to add extra space. The sleigh itself was starting to look it's age as well, so in 2004, he had it completely redone. The old wood and steel was replaced by the latest aluminum and carbon fiber (it had to be lightweight, Santa himself had put on a few pounds) and it was outfitted with a GPS system because after a few centuries, his eyes couldnt read the paper maps very well. The sleigh was also made IED-proof, for those rough landings in Iraq. Santa Claus also has an F-35 JSF escort, and carries an M4A1 with plenty of ammo. He has kept all of his previous weapons and equipment at the Santa Claus Museum, for all to see.

As he heads out for Christmas 2009, he will have to remember that not everyone is on his "nice" list.
