I'm trying to decide on one rifle to pair with my Glock23. I'm not a hunter & I don't need/want and AK. All I want is a solid pistol & a solid rifle. I've tenatively settled on the savage scout in 308WIN. as it's a full power rifle w/ ghost ring sights out of the box. The only question mark is the overall durability of the rifle. Can anyone put my mind at ease or point out any serious faults in the rifle?

Thanks

I don't know about "serious faults"
Mine shoots very well about 1/2" at 100 and about 1" at 200. I'm at about 250 rounds out of mine. I am not a fan of the magazine, for me it is difficult to change magazines easily. I just pretend its an integral magazine. The sights on it do not seem very durable, I prefer my Ruger scout sights better.
One thing I have noticed is extraction and feeding problems if you don't work the bolt with authority.

If I weren't into doing stuff myself, I'd have bought a Savage. But as it is, I built my own 308 Scout out of a Mauser.
I wouldn't be afraid of the Savage at all, but if you want 100% for sure reliability, find a '98 Mauser in .308 and have a 'smith install an XS Systems forward scope base, sweat a front sight base with a Patridge sight, D&T it for a receiver sight, and you're good to go!
