Anyone have any experience with these? I found an older one in a pawn shop for $100. It looks like it's pretty well used but overall it's in good shape. Sitting right next to it is a Remington 870 that looks brand new for $180. I've already got a Mossberg 500 that I've tacticooled out, though. I just want a cheap trunk gun and I know that if I get the Remington that I'll be tempted to deck it out with an extended magazine, a new stock, multiple barrels, etc etc. I don't have to worry about that with the Savage since it doesn't look like accessories are easy to find for it. So what's the consensus on the Savage?

They are OK, but think about repairs. Parts will be pretty hard to find.
The 870 will be easy. It's hard to beat the "cheap" of the Savage, though.

I thought about the repairs but my 1911 is the only gun that I've ever owned that needed any replacement parts. That's not to say that I'll never need to replace it but I probably won't shoot it enough to break anything. I have .22s and handguns to plink with. I just shoot my shotgun enough to stay comfortable with it.

The Model 30 is the take down vesion of the model 67 . Save that $100 and buy the Remington, or a used Mossberg , or even a NEF Partner pump .

This series of savage pumps are problematic - yes they can work and people have them and some are OK with them, but trust me - they are one of the worst pump shotguns ever made.

The Savages have rather comp;icated innards, and lots of stuff to go wrong. Give it a pass and get an 870,500,etc...
