Savage barrel nuts.

What is everyone feeling of reusing the Factory Savage barrel nuts?

The reason I ask is because I will be replacing the barrel on my Model 10 soon with a factory matt black barrel and everywhere I have looked, online parts jobbers, all they seem to have now are Stainless models. Really don't want to put a SS nut on a black barrel and receiver.

I see no issue. They arent torque to yield afaik. I just took the barrel off my striker bolt action pistol to thread the muzzle and reused the nut.

Reuse it. Maybe add a little Loctite 242. It is not intended to be torqued super tight. Just a jamb nut.

Re use it. I wouldn't add Loctite. Just score it up and paint it matte black to fit your color scheme.

I've been reusing the factory nut on my switch barrel for about 15 years. Never even gave it a thought!

If you were a couple years later when I pull my barrel off and replace it with a stainless I'd happily trade you nuts.

I also found blues at eabco and aftermarket nitride ones.

I have a few nuts as i tend to replace the splined ones with smooth. Never had an issue with them tho.... actually i used a savage nut on a remington 783 because it looked nicer.
