Hello all,

Have had great luck in the past cruising this site for info but now I'm stymied. I'm sure there is a simple method that I just can't seem to grasp, but how does one go about getting the bolt out of the Savage model 170 pump-action rifle?? It would seem that it would take apart like a shotgun, what with the similar design and all, but that require barrel removal and that just can't be...right??

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don't think I have ever worked on one, so probably can't be of much help.

However, looking at the schematic, it appears it slides out the back of the receiver, after removing the stock, and the trigger assembly.

Be forewarned that if you get in over your head, putting it back together without directions could be much harder then taking it apart without directions.

Maybe in this case, a can of gun-scrubber and an air compressor might be the way to go.

If that were only the case, I'd be good to go, but unfortunately, I believe I'm working with a broken firing pin. I've already removed the stock and trigger group, and I agree, it does look like it should come out the back, it just...Doesn't, at least not yet.
