I have a Savage Model 219 B(breakopen)single shot 30-30 that I would like some information on. Never see one like this before! On left side of barrel near break open is printed,PROOF TESTED CAL 30-30 . Justunder this and to right is a small circle with letters SP stamped in it and above and to right is even smaller circle with letters I K stamped in it. On left side of gun face, just about two inches to left and above trigger guard is: Savage Modal 219 B,Savage Arms Corporation,Chicopee Falls,Mass. U.S.A. . Just below address and to right is SN 7206 with juat above that and to right is a small circle with 29K stamped in it. Above SN is two rivits and above these is small circle with SP stamped in it. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I don't recall seeing it spelled out before, but Savage proof tests all their guns and marks them with "SP" for Savage Proof. Perhaps they decided to make the use of a proof test even clearer or that rifle was, or was intended to be, part of a shipment to some country that required that the gun be proved and be marked to show it was done.
