I have a marlin m25 in 22mag and i was thinking of putting a scope on it.
My question is what kind of scope i'm thinking of a 3x9 or a 4x12
I will most likely use it for hunting and plinking.
Is the 3x9 not enuff or the 4x12 to much.
Any advice appricieted

I have a 3-9 on mine. Its old, but I think it works.

The BSA sweet .22 scope has turrets compensating for bullet drop(3 sets of turrets for different bullet weights). It says for .22LR only but .22 WMR bullets weight the same so it might work. But if you consider the sweet .22 make sure to varify my claims.

I just bought a Bushnell 3-9x32 Rimfire scope from Midway. They are on sale for $30 with rings.

VERY clear and super nice scope, has darn good reviews and looks great on my .22mag.

I dont think the BSA Sweet 22 scope would work as far as compensating for bullet drop. The bullet weight of a 22mag could be the same as a 22lr, and therefore they would fall towards the earth at the same rate. But since the 22mag travels at a higher velocity, it would cover distance faster than the 22 lr. Thus bullet drop over distance would not be the same for a 22mag vs. a 22lr. For example if we have a 22mag with a velocity of 2000 fps and a 22lr with a velocity of 1500 fps and the bullet in each case has the same weight, then in one second both bullets drop the same distance due to gravity. And in that one second the 22mag bullet travels 500 feet further than the 22lr, so the drop over distance is different.

That being said, I second the Bushnell. They make decent optics at an affordable price.

In the above post i assumed that the velocity was constant for each round. I know that it is not but I was just trying to illustrate the differences, thanks!

thank's guy's i think i'll go with the bushnell cant beat the price and it look's real nice i'll order one right away.

I really like mine, it impressed the hell out of me when I looked thru it.

Let me know how you like it when it shows up.

I have 2 .22mag. rifles. Both have 3x9 scopes. I've never found them lacking. I think one of them is a swift and the other a bsa. Not the greatest optics in the world, but for me they do the job. Most of my shooting is under 100 yds. and at that range, well it's meat in the freezer.

I have a weaver fixed 4x32 scope mounted on my 925M and it hasn't given issue yet...plenty of magnification for the round, IMO.

its an older weaver and has fine-style crosshairs.
