Scope rings for a Henry 22 ?

I have a 1" diameter scope but the rings on it are way too wide for the rail on the Henry. What rings would I get so the scope would work in it ?

I have the same rifle and had a Simmons 4x in simmons rings that was fine. But I like the rifle so much without a scope I took it off. Had you gone the cz route I would have said go with a scope because with those rifles, IMO, the fun is in the precision. The Henry, while pretty accurate, gets the fun, again IMO, from the looks, the style, the balance and just fun plinking. I recommend leaving it as is. When and if the time comes for a scope, then put it on a good bolt action.

The wife took one look at the lever action and fell in love.
We went shooting for a bit earlier after getting it today and it was the first time shes ever wanted to KEEP shooting.....usually she does a few shots and shes done.
She loves it without a scope, so I figure we wont keep one on it much, just I want to have it ready just for some odd situation where she wants to use one.

Will those rings say 'Henry' on the packaging ? Do you know what the item number might be ?

You need "rimfire/airgun" rings for a 3/8" dovetail.

How do you like it overall ?
It seems fine for the money...I couldnt find any serious gripes about it looking around the webs other than the plastic bands which I knew about going in.
Im pretty impressed with the lifetime warranty.
I read a review from a guy who said he bought his at a gunshow used and it had some problem and Henry had him send it in and they fixed it, no charge.
I wish everything I owed had THAT kind of warranty

+1 for what "Woof" said. Don't disgrace that fine little Fun Machine with a scope. If and when she asks for a scope for the 12th time - go buy her a bolt-action and put a good scope on it. Meanwhile - be cool and let her have the Fun you're missing with all that "gottahavascope" silliness.

I have a dumb question.
What in the heck keeps the bolt from kicking back out of the rear of the gun...just the lever ?
Does something else lock it into place so it doesnt come out ?

It's a tilting bolt sort of mechanism.

When the bolt goes all the way forward it actually drops down in the back and latches against a cross piece.

Not that you need a whole lot to contain .22lr. Nonetheless...

After missing a few garden varmints I put one of those $10 airgun scopes on mine. There's a reason they are so inexpensive... it didn't last long before the reticle discombobulated.

I've got a medium size 3x9 deer rifle scope on it now. Yes, it does make the slim little carbine big and clunky compared to iron sights. But, the woodchucks have gotten the message.

I can hear it click when the lever is brought back into firing position, so I wondered if there wasnt something locking into place.

I pulled the thing apart last night to see how to oil things every now and then and from what I saw its pretty much all metal on the inside. Someone elsewhere had me worried because they said its got a lot of plastic in the internal workings, but apparently what I read was sadly misinformed. I couldnt find any plastic at all inside (maybe something a little less visible is).

I bought mine soon after they came out at Walmart for $99 so I can't complain. Again, it is as much fun as any rifle I own. But to keep it in perspective, it isn't IMO an heirloom quality rifle like a Marlin 39 or cz 452. It has a stamped receiver. It will never have the accuracy of the rifles above. Who cares? I shoot mine at things that move like pop cans at 25 - 50 yards. A fun challenge is shooting at paint balls (.68 diam) offhand. Just throw some on the ground and step back. You know when you've hit one! I've tried that with a scoped 452 - not nearly as much fun.

Yes, you need the rings for a 3/8 dovetail. But then again, I put a Millet red dot on my 22 mag. To do that, I got some B-Square mounts that mount to the dovetail on the gun, but you can them put standard rings on 'em. I found these rings at Dicks for $10 (except I got the 3/8" version)
. They seemed to work great for what they are.

We shot for a bit with the scope on (3-9x) then I took it off and she does seem to enjoy it better without the scope.

Apparently neither does my wife
She put it down for a bit and when she came back outside I took the scope off and she pretty much wouldnt even let me shoot it after that. She stayed at it herself till we were done for the day, so Im sure the scope isnt going to be on much at all.
I do want to have it for her just in case, so Im glad you all pointed me to what rings to get

I put one of those $10 Tasco 4x20s on mine. Looks kinda neat, but I've pretty well gotten my $10 out of it already I think, so it's coming off. Still useful as a fixed telescope to walk around with. Maybe.
