Is there any specialty scopes that allow for adaptation on a AR-15 M4 with a non-removable carry handle? I have a Bushmaster XM15E2S, I was just wondering if there is anything out there, before I get another upper receiver.

Thanks in advance!

There are mounts made to atach to the carry andle and you can use any scope you want.
lepers makes a very in expensive scope that attaches directly to the CH. Think they cost <50$.
ACOG bolts right on :D

The best option would be to get a different upper. That said, there are things out there.

What type of scope are you going with?

Well I havent got that far yet on a scope choice, I wanted to know my options before I went looking into scopes with my current upper.

The biggest issue you will run into is that it just makes the scope sit uncomfortably high... at least for most, including me.

If you don't think that will be a big deal, maybe it won't for you.

Well the high mount scope really wont be a problem, with problems like that, I tend to cant the rifle a little, I am sure this would require a little more because your talking at least another 1.5" of height. But a scope that will adjust for canted shooting will come in handy in this place. And I will adjust quickly.

Someone on AR15.com recommended this, it's a pad that velcros on around the stock, and brings your eye up to the right height for the scope. Works like a charm!

can you find me two things possibly???

1. What scope is that.

2. Who makes that velcro pad?

Thanks in advance.!

also, can anyone tell me anything about the Leapers T-168? I was looking into that, have heard good and bad, but it doesnt seem to be available anywhere on line, everyone is out of stock, did they stop making it, or is it just that good of a (cheap) scope.

Two additional choices would be to either add railed handguards so you can mount optics directly to the handguard, or you can add a railed scout mount to the front of the carry handle. These will allow you to use scout optics as well as ACOG/red dot options.

By mounting your optics in front of the handguard, you can keep your optics closer to the bore of the rifle as well as be able to 'witness' the iron sights to a red dot.

Personally, I would stay away from the Leapers brand, get something better to hold your optics choice solidly and not shake loose.

Back when I was issued an old M-16A1 and later the A2, I bought some $150 3 power scope (had Colts name on there but who knows who really made it.) that had a built in mount that went right onto the carry handle / sight guard.

It worked just fine and allowed me to see the regular sights without removing the scope. Some foam and duct tape took care of the cheek weld problem.
