Today was a day when it paid to get out of bed. Today at work I was debating whether to go by the gun shop to do the weekly ammo status check and decided I'd skip it this week, didn't feel like going out of my way and wasting the gas for nothing.

On the way home I decided what the hell I'd swing by anyway and when I walked into the shop I glanced at the revolver case and sitting in there was a pristine Ruger Speed Six 2 3/4" .357 for $340 so after the 1 second debate in my head on whether to get it or not I get the clerk and tell him I'll take that so as he's getting it out of the case I look behind the gun buy counter and there is a probably 95% Winchester 94 30-30 tagged at $425 and I ask to see that and sure enough it's a pre 64 (serial number checks out to 1959), very light barrel wear, but the action is nice and smooth. They are both now happily on layaway till next Friday when they will journey to there new loving home.

The ammo part of the trip was the waste of time that I knew it'd be (and now I have to add 30-30 back to the caliber list as well) but all in all I'm happy, I figure this was a worthwhile trip.
