I just went tonight hoping to score but no. I picked up about 30 reloadable casings. spent about 20 min picking up .22 casings for the recycler and got about 3-4 lbs.
Topped off both my scrap buckets today and called the smelter: $1.95 per pound delivered across their scale.
I weighed and I have about 120 pounds saved back right now- berdan, worn-out, corroded, split or crushed ammo cases, spent primers, old keys, faucet parts, brass stripper clips, etc.
Somebody broke their brass cleaning rod at the range and stuck it in the trash. It came home with me. It's brass.
About 1 month ago I took a bunch of aluminum to the local scrapyard in Virginia Beach. Since I was going anyway I took my bad brass cases and spent primers. They weighed 5 lbs and they give $1.50 for yellow brass. Of course only got $7.50 but better than throwing them out.
Wish I got close to $2.00 per pound like some of you do.
