Love my 161 numbered stainless 4in Police Service.

It shoots great and carries surprisingly well in a Bianchi pistol pocket.

Buy the Service-Six now, and the Security-Six when you find one. Rarely see them around here anymore. I'm still waiting on a Speed-Six to pop up.

I found a Security Six online and, of course, I bought it. It's stainless with a 6" barrel. The seller shipped it to me a couple of days ago, still waiting for it to arrive. Should be today or tomorrow.

Just to confuse things, Ruger made Security Sixes with fixed sights early on before calling them Service-Six.

Ruger made all sorts of combos and odd runs actually, so don't be surprised if you run across a gun that doesn't quite fit the standard definition. But it's really collector territory.

I bought a box of Black Hills .357 last night to shoot next week in my 4" blue Service-Six when I meet some folks to try different guns. They're 125 grains at 1500 fps. The Remingtons they shot in my 4" Python last time were only 1450.

See post #10 for a pic of a fixed sight Security-Six http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=425755

My speed Six:)

Give us some pics when it comes in. I think you will really like it. I have the blued 6" and it is a nice trail gun.

Lighter than the GP100 but still very strong.

Nice Pics! I don't know what it is, but there's something about the Six series that makes me do a double take.

IMHO, the Police Service Six (and the Speed Six as well) are the best looking double action revolvers Ruger has ever made. I think they look nearly as sweet as their S&W K Frame counterparts. And the fixed sights of these models gives them a sleeker appearance than their adjustable sight brother, the Security Six, which looks a little top heavy. Also, the Ruger's generously sized fixed sights are actually very easy to see, for me anyway. I prefer them to S&W's fixed sights, which have a much shorter front blade and a much shallower rear notch.
