seeking input on outdoor range policies

The local outdoor range is in the process of adopting formal By-Laws. I am interested in receiving copies of others to review. If you have access to your outdoor range by-laws, I would appreciate a copy.

Specifically, I am interested in the following:

1. eligibility requirements for membership

2. policy on voting

3. policy on guests

4. policy, if any, on picking up spent casings

Answers from memory

I don't have access to my clubs by laws at the moment but I have a couple of answers to your questions.

1. eligibility requirements for membership

Must be legally able to own firearms and be an NRA member.


2. policy on voting

Must be a member in good standing. Full membership or spousal membership
but not junior/family membership.

A spousal membership is a full membership at a discounted rate (must meet #1 above). A family/junior membership/junior is very discounted membership but the family/junior must be accompied to the range by a person with a full membership. I'm not sure if the junior member needs to be an NRA member, but I wouldn't think so.


3. policy on guests

One guest per visit (often ignored) four trips per year (often ignored)


4. policy, if any, on picking up spent casings

You bring out what you bring in (often ignored)

We have Club Officers: President, V.P., Secretary, Treasure, and Purser who along with 8 (I think) more Directors who take care of club business, all of which is open to the membership.

1) Any sponsored adult. Sponsorship by any member in good standing or by being a memeber of a recognized shooting or conservation organization with goals not in conflict with ORSA.

2) All memebers in good standing.

3) 1 guest per visit unless approved by director or any officer.

4) Clean up after yourself

I'm a range master at our local outdoor (city managed) shooting range.

1. eligibility requirements for membership - We set the fee structure so that shooters save a lot of money by joining the county sportsmans association. It's $20 a year ($10 for range, $10 for sportsmans association). $50 a year if you just want to shoot and not join the association. A lot of the money from the association is put back in the range yearly for maintenance. Rangemasters shoot for free, we're volunteers.

2. policy on voting - Rangemasters get to vote.

3. policy on guests - Guests are ok. Daily fees are $3.

4. policy, if any, on picking up spent casings - Please pick them up, it saves me the hassle of having to sweep them up.
