Hello,
Looks like I just came into a solid 85% 10-3 for a decent price. Needs grips but other than that it looks solid.
I had a few questions that I'm having trouble finding specific answers for online.
Is the 10-3 heavy barreled only? Were there pencil barrel 10-3's?
What were the production numbers for 10-3's compared to other earlier model 10's?
Any collectors interest in these 4 screw model 10's?
Thanks!

Introduced in 1961 & superseded by the 10-6 in 1962. The -1, -3 & -6 were heavy barreled versions, the -2, -4 & -5 were tapered barrel versions.

Production for all fixed sight K frames was:
1957-59: 26816
1960: 44407
1961-62: 148550
1963-65: 187832
1966-67:189466

No idea as to collectors interest, but value is not high simply due to the massive numbers produced. Total fixed and adjustable sight N frame production for that period was 114,000 vs 1,087,000 fixed & adjustable sight K frames.

Radagast has it right, a premium value just isn't there due to the numbers produced.

AFAIK, I suppose somewhere, someone has a -3 with a standard barrel, but it did NOT come from the factory that way.
