So I'm wanting to sell my Kel-Tec P-11 and I was wondering. What does it take for me to sell it online and ship it to an out of state FFL for my buyer. Do I have to have my FFL ship it or can I ship it to my FFL? Any info would be great. Thanks

You simply need to have the buyer have his FFL send you a signed copy of his license which will allow you to ship it. You don't have to use an FFL of your own.

Yes of course they can In fact cause its a signed copy I don't think they can fax it.

Just recently ATFE has ruled faxed copies of the FFL are acceptable.

This may or may not be true.

Different states have laws that are more restrictive than Federal law, and some states require it be shipped "from" as well as "to" an FFL.

To the OP--posting your state would help. Failing that, please insure that you are knowledgeable of, and in compliance with, YOUR state laws. Also, there are shipping requirements that must be complied with in all 50 states. First and foremost, a private citizen may not ship a handgun using US Postal Service. Please do your homework and stay out of Club Fed.

To the people who responded: please be aware of the above, and please refrain from stating your opinion or Federal law as if it were the only requirement in all 50 states. It is not necessarily so, and someone may find himself in serious trouble by following bad advice.

I don't know if that will work in Kansas or not. My FFL will only deal with another FFL. When I asked him about it, he said, how do I know I'm dealing with an honest person on the other end. When the federal boys come to look at the books, I don't want any problems.

I'd check with someone who knows. Maybe my guys is just really picky.

Yep, FedeX wanted $55 for me to ship it myself. I went down to a pawn shop and they gave me a good deal on shipping of $15, and then another $10 for the transfer when the the other firearm I traded for came in.

I was going to talk to my FFL anyways and see if he would ship it for me. I was reading up on shipping it myself and it would be a lot easier for him to do it for me.

some dealers are more picky than others. recently I emailed a signed FFL copy and the gentleman wanted one regular mail (signed hard-copy). most states only require the recipient of the gun be an FFL. US Priority mail with delivery confirmation is the cheapest and very fast(usually 2 day).. some dealers will grumble about doing a transfer. usually because they want you to buy one of their guns instead of the online gun. I do transfers for $15 which is cheaper than most, but it gets people into my store. they might see something else they like as well as the gun I'm recieving & transfering.

I don't think my FFL would have a hard time with it or grumble about it. I'm sure he would like me to buy something from him, but he gets my money everyweek anyways, as I use his shooting range.
