looking for a 44 mag semi jacketed hunting bullet. The tool is a desert eagle :) and that limits me to semi jacketed bullets 240 grain and and up. so far all I have shot is Hornady, which shoots great but have never harvested anything with 44 mag so I am in new water sorta speak. Any info would be great thanks.

I have shot Hornady, Speer, and Noslers in 240 grain. All three were accurate for me....all are a great hunting bullet. With the Noslers and the Speers, I prefer the JSPs to JHPs for hunting deer.

I have used the hornady jsp's with good luck but I have been wanting to try the Barnes HP's in the 44. I perfer 300 grain hardcast loads for hunting but thats just me, I don't know if you can shoot lead in a DE.

I've shot a lot of Magtech SJSP 240gr bullets out of my DE. I did not take any game with them but they were accurate.

rembrandt thats a nice picture! makes me excited to go with a desert eagle this year! what tyoe of range do you use the Desert Eagle for? use anything other than 240 grain or 300 overkill?

one more thing rembrandt do you get any play between the barrel and reciever or slide? mine has a little "wiggle"

Haven't noticed any wiggle.....I've taken Antelope and Mule Deer with mine out to 200 yards (14" barrel)....lots of practice to do it. With short barrel (6") shots are usually 50 yards, no more than 100.

Have used both 240 and 300 grain XTP's...both are good.

factory ammunition: Federal American Eagle 240gr jacketed softpoint; Winchester white box 240gr jacketed softpoint; PMC Bronze 240gr jacketed softpoint; in reality they are semijacketed with exposed lead tips
