The FBI today said the Al-Qaeda threat tape is real. But ABC News says their not sure if they should run it this close to the election(might help Bush). But their running along with the other Media news the story about the so called missing explosives in Iraq that has no proof of being true. If this tape is true ABC has a "duty"to give a warning of a possible attack to all Americans Republican or Democrat. An E-mail to www.abcnews.com to there "contact us" site might help them do what they should be doing as a news source.

Excerpt:

"We're not quite there to broadcast something that would be quite frightening," investigative reporter Brian Ross told the Washington Post on Wednesday. "I'd love to have the exclusive, but first we'd like to get it right."

That sounds admirable, especially in the wake of the Dan Rather affair. But then:

Drudge told the Post that that a political motivation behind the leak was "possible," but he also raised questions about ABC's actions. "They haven't authenticated previous Al Qaeda tapes before airing them," he said. "Why are they waiting to authenticate this? It's election week."

It does sound a bit hypocritical.

From what I have heard about that tape, there is nothing specific mentioned, and seeing it or not isn't going to change what any of us do.

"The streets will run red with blood" really isn't specific enough to do anything about.

The FBI has seen it, and if there is something credible there that we need to know, then I think the government would have issued some specific statement.

Send ABC a message

Since the FBI has said this tape is real the reason it should be shown to the American public is that a survey done about a month and ahalf back 1/3 of Americans said they no longer believe there is a Terrorist threat anymore.

It could also contain a "Go" message for a sleeper cell.
That's an interesting observation. Question is, would a terrorist attack right here, right now hurt or help GWB?

However, I think a big terrorist attack in Iraq would be very detrimental to him if there were several hundred soldiers killed.

It probably would, which is why I have little doubt that many liberals (such as Michael Moore) are privately keeping thier fingers crossed and praying that it comes to pass before Tuesday. There was a time when the liberals were patriotic (when push came to shove, that is), but that time has long since come and gone. Nowadays they're consumed with hatred and a quest to regain political power at any cost - whether it be lives, property, respect for our Constitution, etc. They'd willing burn our great nation down to the ground and drag it's reputation through the mud in thier fanatical desire to oust George W. Bush from office - which is why I'm steadfastly praying that he wins next Tuesday. It would be interesting to see thier reaction. Would they stifle themselves and bite thier tongues, or would they throw a tantrum - rioting, threatening, and lashing out verbally with such vehemence that America finally sees the true face behind thier mask of peace and tolerance?

I think today at the prime time news they played a clip of the guy talking about how "blood will flow from the streets".

Would a terrorist attack on the day of the election really help?

Will voters believe it is yet another failure of the administration to protect us from attacks?

Or

Will voters be less likely to switch horses in a war?

one45auto's post hit me like a slap in the face. Maybe I'm nuts, but I actually do believe that the DNC and Kerry's handlers would be doing high-fives if there were large numbers of US casualties in Iraq over the next few days. Hopefully I'm wrong, but it truly saddens me that we've reached the point where I can't discount the possibility.
