Supervisors propose $2 million aid fund for illegal immigrants
Money would pay for legal services, English courses.

The resolution, introduced by Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi, is the latest in a string of measures adopted by the city that puts it at odds with federal immigration policy. But unlike previous calls for action, supervisors this time are proposing a $2 million fund for services for immigrants.

"This is smart, this is proactive, this is common sense and this is compassionate," Daly told supporters.

How does he know whats smart or what shows signs of

This beats all. A resolution trying to obtain 2,000,000.00
of taxpayers money to defend willful lawbreakers against
our own immigration laws !

What in heavens name are they putting in the water

Doesn't suprise me a bit. This is the city that turned down having a WW2 ship docked there, that had a guy on Hannity & Colmes arguing we should have no military AT ALL, and that had a lawyer on O'Reilly's show arguing - get this - that since so many CA kids were so stupid and couldn't pass the high school exits tests, that CA taxpayers should pay to send them to college! They have this inverse logic where the worse you do the more you should get - it's insane!

I was born in SF and used to love that place. But (except for SBC Park) it could all slide away and I could care less.

maybe a few more facts about SF would

help ya'll understand how they think 1) the city was paying for a sex change for a domestic partner of the gal who used to run the election dept. (from a gal to a guy) 2) the DA barely proscutes anyone but "un-PC" criminals that the cops drag in (read-let drug dealers, hookers, pimps, ect go-lock up ?) 3) the school dist. blew thru +500 million in bond money and never did one significant project, yet the sheep kept passing more bonds to fix the projects that money was wasted on. I used to live near there, and worked in the city alot. It's a very nice place to visit, if you can afford, but living there is almost out of most everyones reach.

I miss the mild weather in the San Francisco Bay area and the beaches; my only regret about leaving the People's Republic of California to return to the United States this past summer is that I didn't do it years ago.

It's just boastful talk. SF doesn't have 2 million to spend on anything. People have started planting "gardens" in potholes to help speed up the repair process. While the Supes fiddle with castles in the sky, people are starting to relocate. SF is becoming unlivable.

Unfortunately, a lot of them are moving to Sacramento. :banghead:
