Today I went with my father in law, brother in law, and 2 friends to a sporting clays shoot, which I haven't done in probably a decade. I had a GREAT time, and shot quite well (82/100) for not doing it in a LONG time! I even used my Beretta 303 that I used when I shot sporting clays before. It got me thinking, why did I stop doing it before? I had a great time then as well. I believe I'll be shooting sporting clays a lot more now! Have you guys had the same experiences with shooting activities or shooting sports?

Ive come back around to .22s hardcore. Unless Im shooting with friends or doing drills, its pretty much .22 everything for me these days.

That's where I'm at too.
For one thing I have a bazillion rounds of 22lr in my cache and for another I haven't been able to find the time to hit the loading bench in quite a while.
Soooo, 22lr it is for now.

X3 here. I put 4-5 times the shots through my rimfires that I do through my center fires. Between time for reloading, and the cost of components, .22 LR has become my main go-to.

Stay safe.

My first centerfire was a .38/357 s&w. I usually shot 38s in it.
Over the years i went to .45acp, then .45colt, then 9mm, then .380......
Recently I rediscovered the the .38spl and started loading and shooting it again. I like its mild mannered report, yet enough oomph to topple the targets that are set up. I especially like the old-school revolvers that chamber it.

Until the most recent shortage-of-everything, I’d almost forgotten about airguns. Shortly after the last h.a.i.c. election, I dug ‘em out, dusted them off, and started shooting them again (even added a few new ones). It’s cheap, it’s quiet, ammo availability isn’t (much of) a problem, no brass to chase, no recoil to aggravate a shoulder that isn’t aging as well (lol) as the rest of me, and even though it’s only short range, I can get in plenty of trigger time right in my backyard, and even inside the garage if the weather’s crap.
Although…come to think about it, I haven’t shot any of my muzzleloaders in almost a decade.
Considering how much I enjoyed them back in the day, perhaps their time is at hand as well.

Be safe y’all !

Same! I recently shot a old Remington Single Shot, the style you have to pull the striker back to shoot. was fun!

Might looking into a bolt action .22, CZ is on my list, if I can get one with a threaded barrel

Shooting any gun chambered in .22 LR.

I get so focused on training for defensive purposes with carry pistols, carbines and shotguns, that I have for long stretches forgotten how much fun plinking or target shooting with my .22 rifles, pistols and revolvers really is.
you know what a blast? long range .22 shooting. I was at Knob Creek and we put a steel target at the end of the range. And shot with a 1-4x had to hold way above the target, but that “dink delay” never got old

Yet another fan of the .22LR and the guns that are chambered for this fun to shoot, cartridge. Lately I have been playing around with my TacSol conversion on an old Essex 1911 frame, along with another .22LR conversion, this one for my CZ P07.

that’s cool!

I have definitely been shooting more 22lr in the last 3 years since ammo was available when centerfire ammo and reloading supplies were not available. I've setup my Savage MkII for long range shooting along with building an AR22 for the same uses. I have also shot my rimfire pistols more than I use to for the same reason. I've even tried wearing out my Glock G44 using ProMag magazines and haven't done it yet.

I did dig out my old Trius One Step clay thrower and tested it out but haven't shot any clays yet. I need to reload some more 410 target loads first.

Another .22RF convert/revert whatever describes relearning how much fun they are.

Bought a Bergara B14R and started getting into the .22LR precision stuff, that mean setting up an additional sub range with props, TGTs etc. I honestly find shooting the .22LR at distance way more challenging than my centerfire guns.

Then I bough a Colt King Cobra .22LR, just to shoot up the ammo the B14R doesn't like. Now I'm working on a .22LR silhouette range idea to get ready for hunting season.

I still like my centerfire stuff, we were out back practicing yesterday to 760 yds, but for the price of a primer and match bullet I can get a lot of good .22LR ammo

22LR can definitely be fun and challenging once you start shooting at 150+ yards. That has been the direction I have gone with my Savage MkII and a couple of my AR22's. Stretching the legs of 22LR is good practice for shooting long distance with centerfire rifles.

I also like shooting clay birds out to 85 yards with my 22lr pistols.

There are two shooting activities that I truly enjoyed - I haven't forgot them - but the times have made them all but memories.

When the grand kids were young, there was nothing better than a get together shooting .22's. Those were fun days but they are grown up now and have their own pursuits.

The other enjoyable event was shooting clay pigeons when my brothers and their families came home for a visit (usually at holidays). Fun times but their families are grown up too and I only have one brother still living.

Sighting in a rifle. Used to hate it in the military because they could make anything tedious and drawn out. Last week I took one of my students to the range and sighted in two of my rifles. Range had a nice, covered bench with an electronic target display so I didn't even have to walk down range to see where they were going.

I love backwood clay shooting. We use to have a Tuesday clay shooting match at the deer lease in North Carolina. $5 buy in, best of 10 birds. We graduated to 2 manual throwers and 1 battery powdered thrower!GOOD TIMES
