I am off duty today, but I know alot of officers, medics and firefighters on Ft. Hood. Keep all of them in your prayers please.

Thanks

damn.. do you guys know if the bad guys were military personnel or civilian ? Here on the news they were talking about people wearing uniforms.

The reports are that two to three attackers wearing fatigues opened fire in at least two separate locations with one shooting occuring at or near the post hospital and another at the post theater. Supposedly one shooter is dead and the other one or two being pursued. It's unclear if they are Soldiers.

According to the article posted here the shooting took place at the old Fort Hood Superdome. First thing I thought of when I saw the picture was the opening to Matthew Bracken's Enemies Foreign and Domestic.

Hopefully the Military Police can take at least one of these people alive and determine why they did it.

Having uniforms isn't very difficult here. Most military bases have retail stores right outside the gates that sell surplus. We won't know until they investigate these folks.

Every single person in uniform should be carrying 24/7/365. This business of disarming soldiers and relying on a few MP's is antiquated nonsense and I'm surprised it hasn't led to more deaths. We need to adopt Israeli rules.

Right. It's as likely that the attackers were outsiders using the uniforms in order to gain access to some areas without attracting attention, as it is that they are stationed there.

Did they obtain M-16s from the base? Did they have M-16s at all, given the difficulty of getting good information from situations like that?

We'll have to wait.

The Pentagon says that, initially, they don't think it's a terrorist attack.

That may be, but if we're looking at a team of attackers at various locations, in a coordinated strike, it's sure as hell not just some soldier "snapping" because he is distraught over his wife leaving him or something.

12 dead and 31 wounded at the readiness facility that they were soldiers the from the report on cnn, from a General at Fort Hood

An active duty soldier killed other soldiers in Kuwait just before the second Iraq war.

A civilian killed two soldiers earlier this year in Arkansas

They share traits with the D.C. Sniper who I hope gets his next week.

I do not know about these killers but I got my bet already wagered.

Briefing stated that it was a single soldier with 2 pistols that started in a Soldier Readiness Center. It did not say that the other 2 suspects were shooters, just suspects.

Two handguns, all reports are saying that the other two soldiers had a part in this but the shooter had two pistols, no other weapons. Hard to believe that one guy with two pistols could take down 40 some people that fast.

The shooter is (Sgt.) Maj. Malik Hassan a recent convert to Islam. Man that sucks. When I was in the Army I knew several muslim soldiers and they were outstanding soldiers.

Not an officer, but a high ranking enlisted.

Even trained military personnel are pretty vulnerable if they're unarmed and attacked from non-contact distances.

How fast do you think that this will get a 'not terrorism related, islam is your friend' spin? Some Senator will say that we need some type of screening program to decide which soldiers get to carry weapons.

Remember, they were 40 some UNARMED people. Ever see how fast an IPSC shooter can go through 40 targets that don't shoot back?
