Shooting M&P .40 S&W

I'm going to pick up an M&P and my caliber of choice is .40 S&W. I've shot a 9mm M&P and it was sweet.

Those of you who've shot and or own an M&P in .40 S&W, I'm interested to read your feedback.

M&P's

I have two M&P 9's, full sized and compact version. The 40's are the same size as the 9's.

One word says it all --- SWEET!

The M&P .40 ( full size ) is the best pistol I have and other than a Les Baer .45 the best I have fired in a long time. I went through another 100 rounds this weekend ( 850 total since MAY ) without an issue. It is easy gun to shoot for a .40

It was between the M&P and the Walther P99. Honestly I wanter the P99 more, but the M&P is less expensive.

I've shot the M&P and I really liked it. My only real question was of caliber. I shoot USPSA and the call to 9mm was strong as most people in "production division" shoot 9mm, but I am trying to stay with one caliber in all my current purchases and I love the .40 S&W for SD.

The M&P felt good in my hand and it shot very well.

I own both the 9 & 40 in full-size and they are my favorite pistols. Why? The ergonomics - they fit me like a glove with the medium grip insert. Although not as tight as a Sig, they are very nice and very accurate. Never mind the trigger at first, it will smooth out after a few hundred rounds and I'm sure you won't look back.

IMO the M&P .40 is one of the most enjoyable handguns to shoot that I've ever owned or ever shot. The muzzle flip is very minimal the ergonomics are great and it is extremely accurate with a great trigger. I've put thousands of rounds through my fullsize .40 and it will eat whatever you feed it.

I have no complaints about my M&P other than the fact I want more of them If I actually had money I'd pick up the compact(in 9mm) and the M&P.45, man I wish I had money:banghead:

No real comment on the M&P platform (other than Pattie's is real nice!), as I have very limited trigger time with it. Only comment on the caliber: USPSA Production shooters shoot 9mm cuz everything in Production class is scored minor power factor anyways, regardless of the caliber you actually shoot. So, in effect, you'd be penalizing yourself with a harsher caliber in .40 as compared to 9mm, and you'd get no scoring benefit from it. That, and the cost of 9mm vs. 40, is why I'd choose a 9mm if I were you.

LOVE the Sigline Bam Bam. I know and that's the only reason I'm thinking 9mm. Still, I'm so hung up on shooting the caliber I use to prote4ct myself that it bugs me.
