Thinking about getting a Ruger GP100 with the shorter grip stud (ie. one of the fixed sight half lug models). Do standard GP100 grips work on it, or would i use SP101 grips?

The stud is the same on all GP100s.

The GP100 short grip does share the grip inserts with the SP101, but not the grip itself.

Ah. Bummer. I was hoping to use the Hogue Monogrip from an SP101 on the GP. They fit like they were made for me!
The monogrip for the GP is just too big and bulky.
I was hoping the grip stud itself was shorter, not just a shorter grip put on. Oh well.

The grip on the regular 4" and 6" GP are pretty big, but the grip on the smaller fixed sight GP is pretty small. Not as small as an SP101 but still small and not just shorter.

I put the short one (together with some fancy inserts made by a fellow on the RugerForum.net) on the 4" that I picked up last year for $300 - they really add to the concealability of the thing.

Can you imagine a SRH with the shorty grip!?!?!? That would be a funny looking wheelgun.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Whats so funny about a "shorty" grip on a SRH ?
I think it's Natural. :D:D

I actually plan to put a shorty GP100 grip onto an SRH Alaskan, when I can afford one. I don't think it will ever fire a .454, just .45 Colt.
