I can guarantee you there will be a rise in crime. Most likely all types of crime.

SHOTGUNS HAVE ‘VIRTUALLY SOLD OUT’ IN AUSTRIA, SALES FUELLED BY FEAR OF MIGRANT CRISIS

Gun dealers in Austria report a boost in weapon sales as concern mounts over the large number of migrants entering the country

by SARKIS ZERONIAN28 Oct 2015848

An estimated 900,000 privately-owned firearms are held by an Austrian population of just under 8.5 million, but gun dealers are reporting a surge in shotgun sales this year, reports The Daily Mail. Local media puts the accelerating private arms race down to the sheer numbers of migrants and an attendant fear of house break-ins. One gun seller told the broadcaster oe.24 that “because of the social change, people want to protect themselves.” Police say 70,000 guns have been sold this year, a rush which gun dealers report is led by women who are also driving up sales of pepper spray out of fear for their personal security. “Virtually all shotguns are currently sold out, because you need no permit for them”, said a spokesman for an arms dealer in Upper Austria. Licences are required for private ownership of all other weapon types and the licensing process is seeing greater activity

Licence applicants in Austria must take courses where they demonstrate their knowledge of firearms. These licence courses used to take place every five weeks, but increased demand for them in a market shifting from hunting to self-defence means they are now held weekly. In cities like Salzburg, lines of people outside government offices applying for licences to buy guns have become an everyday occurrence.

This too.

Austrians, mostly women, rushing to gun stores to buy weapons amid fears of Muslim invasion

27 October 2015

As tens of thousands of mostly Arabic-speaking male "refugees" continue to pour into central and northern Europe from the Balkans, many European civilians—particularly women—are scrambling to purchase firearms to protect themselves, WND reported.

Unfortunately for the average European citizen, getting a gun and ammunition is practically impossible in at least four European countries: Germany, Britain, Denmark and the Netherlands, the WND report said. Unlike in the United States where owning a gun is legal and easy, many European countries have highly restrictive regulations in allowing their citizens to procure firearms, the report said.

The Czech TV report said long firearms like shotguns and rifles have mostly been sold out, and incoming stocks are still far off.

Remarkably, the report noted that those who have purchased guns were mostly women.

"If anyone wants to buy a long gun in Austria right now, too bad for them," the Czech newscaster says. "All of them are currently sold out."

If they can't find a modern shotgun, tell them Austrians to buy a double barrel muzzleloader and a cap and ball revolver.

It beats a sharp stick.

I wonder how Austria treats muzzle loaders and cap-and-ball revolvers. I see a lot of videos in Italy and the like involving muzzleloaders.

the original report

The original article, which was picked up by Czech TV and from there by WND, appeared in the Tiroler Tageszeitung. (German speakers see http://www.tt.com/home/10581135-93/privater-waffenkauf-explodiert-in-tirol.csp.) It says any adult is allowed to own a rifle or shotgun by stating the purpose is hunting, sport shooting, or self-defense in one's home. It does say shotguns are sold out all over Austria, but does NOT say women are the majority of gun purchasers, rather "many women are among them"; however it says women are avidly buying pepper spray.

In some European countries you cannot own a replica Black Powder gun. You can only own originals. And the supply of useable original BP guns is finite.

Europe should be interesting to watch over the next decade. Shotguns are a great versatile inexpensive tool to,own.

The concealed carry applications in the Czech Republic also went through the roof in the last couple of months, due to the same fear of refugees. Which are non-existent in the country, apart from front pages of all media.

That's because President Zeman has not drunk the kool-aid, unlike Merkel et al.

Zeman is imbecile populist.

The only difference is that here we have the right to be armed (albeit not constitutionally protected). And people make use of that right once they come to conclusion they might need a gun.

Most didn't think so, which led to the fact that CC rate remained steady in past 15 years, and that allowed US to take over our primacy in CC licenses per capita in about 2007.

The fact that shotguns require no permit in Austria while everything else does exposes the naked truth of gun control; that it is to protect the ruling class. The powers that be fear weapons that can harm THEM. Shotguns are neither concealable or capable of accurate long-range fire, so the peasants can be allowed to have them.

To prove this assertion, I would bet my left leg that capacities are restricted, barrels must be long enough to prohibit concealment, and rifled barrels and slugs are likely permit-only items.

I'm amazed how it takes a catalyst for some people to care about self defense.

There are wide parts of Europe with next-to-no crime and with literally zero violent crime. When you are raised in such environment, self defense really isn't something you put high on your list of priorities.

The article I cited above from an Austrian newspaper said both shotguns and rifles are allowed.

Not for long will such areas continue to exist.

There are places like that in the US too; I grew up and live in "good" places.
That has no bearing on me being predisposed to value self defense.
Just because crime doesn't happen frequently in a given location is irrelevant.
Self defense is at the top of my priorities.

Others see things differently (pictured), waiting until an incident happens or is perceived as more likely to happen.

The influx of Muslims will fundamentally change the face of Europe. We didn't
take Obama seriously when he said he would change America for all times. I say
Bushes misguided distruction of Iraq will set off a much more serious erosion of
European society, and ours, than anything Obama will do.

That's okay because it's going to be replaced with Arabic soon.
Yesterday hotair.com reported that a tiny German town (pop. 100) will be receiving 750 migrants. There are no jobs, schools or shops there, and the migrants will be housed in an abandoned office building. Germany has extremely strict gun control laws. In response to residents' expressed safety concerns they were assured it will be perfectly safe because the streetlights will be on at night. I am not making this up.
