You could pay out your nose for one now if you can find one and the ammo for it. If I were wanting another and the ammunition for it today, I would say having to spend $2000 isn't far fetched.

This frenzy isn't anything new. Once folks get their fill and the supply catches up to the demand, prices will settle back down to reasonably prices. I believe this especially holds true with ammunition and AR uppers.

The only threatened accoutrements of the AR, IMO, are the magazines.
If new legislation is passed, I suspect it will focus not on firearms capable of high capacity but on the magazines that provide that capability.

That said, I don't see a time were you won't be able to buy 30 round magazines for an AR, but I suspect the days of $14 Pmags are done with.

So, while I don't necessarily grimace when I hear of someone shelling out $20+ for a 30-round magazine, I do when I hear of someone paying $1200 for a case of XM855 or $300 for a BCG. Ouch.

If you must partake in the feeding frenzy, perhaps focus on the "high capacity" magazines and a stripped lower receiver as they are the most likely targets of any new legislation. For everything else, sit back and let the prices reenter from orbit before investing.

They will never sell assault rifle, semi auto yes if gun people can not get it right how can the media?
