I hope I'm not thinking I'm starting a new thread just to find out it's been done before. I didn't bother to search to see if it has. If so please forgive me but if not I hope we can have fun with it. I've just got into the whole "Target Pistol" thing & I was telling a great Aunt about it today on the phone. She called me back a couple hrs later & asked me to come to her house, she had something for me. I got there & on her table was the Hi-Standard in the picture below. She said it was my Great Uncle's before he past away & it's been in a closet for some 30ish years & wanted me to have it. Other than a few rub marks from the box, it's brand new. The 4.5 barrel doesn't even look like it's had a round shot through it! It's weird but there's no feeding ramp & the slide release is on the right side. Can't wait to try it out this weekend!!

Any advice from the "Ole time" shooters on ammo because of no feeding ramp? I was thinking solids over hollows. Might feed better?

Anyways, let's see those Target pistols & maybe even some targets? I'll post some after this weekend.

That's a nice Hi-Standard!

Here are a couple of my favorites. Colt Camp Perry and a Hi-Standard Model B

And a more modern Walther GSP in an International setup with the .22 short and .32 S&W conversions.

Top to bottom:

Walther GSP Expert in .22LR
Walther GSP Expert in .32 S&W
Colt Gold Cup in .45 ACP

All with Ultra Dot Match Dot sights. The Walthers now have Rink grips instead of the factory grips shown. Grips on the Colt are Morini

I'm really surprised that this thread hasn't taken off? Com'on guys let's see so more pictures of those pistols to go with the fine ones we here already.

Onmilo, What is that single shot in your second pic?

Is it a Stevens?
My wife's grandfather has a pistol that looks just like that and I've been trying to figure out how much it's worth, when they were made, and how well they shoot.

High Standard Citation and Hammerli 280. I can't decide which shoots the best.

It is a Stevens Model 35, identifiable from earlier Stevens pistols by the stamped trigger guard.
Earlier guns had cast guards.
The Model 35 was the last of the single shot break open pistols, there was a later pistol that looked like a colt single action army and they were produced until about the start of world war two.
These guns bring between $200-$400 depending on condition, bore condition and stable, tight lock-up are everything.

With a good bore and tight lock-up, they will shoot as well as many modern target pistols. HTH

OnMilo,

that's a very interesting pistol, thank you for sharing!

Kscharlie,

nice S&W 17!!! I'm not much of a "Revolver" guy. I have a buddy at work that has a S&W revolver & he asked me about it. It says CTG on the barrel but I can't seem to find a model #? It looks idenical to your 17. 6 shot .22 CTG the serial # is on the frame on the bottom of the handle. It says K 74xxx. Is his in fact a S&W 17?

That SN would indicate a production date of 1949 - model numbering wasn't started until 1957, so a 6" barrelled K-frame target revolver in .22 LR from that vintage would be simply a K-22 Masterpiece - the gun that became the Model 17. ("CTG" is just the S&W abbreviation for "cartridge".)

Thank you very much DickM. My Co-Worker will be very happy to know that information.
