A couple homemade grips on my Ballester-molina after Olympus' advice and delivery of the right tools.

Red Oak w/ rosewood stain.

The squeamish may want to look away. All I can say is I have 2 daughters who helped pick the wood. Purple heart wood just with clear poly.

I'm glad I could be of assistance. Those grips look great. Keep up the good work!

Thanks again for the advice.

Those who complain about decorum here should note that a guy that makes and sells grips will take time to offer advice to a amateur. Advice that might cost him money in lost orders. It’s not a real 1911 so his won’t fit but the advice will transfer to real ones.

Desert Ironwood for a full sized frame this time. These grips are unfinished and have been wiped with mineral spirits to show what they will look like when a finish is applied.

More desert ironwood wiped with mineral spirits.

This is some stuff I've never worked with before. It's redwood. It was surprising to see all the eyes and the herringbone figure in the wood. It was really, really dry so it took about 12 coats of Tru-Oil.

I am surprised there were no Makarovs or P64s pictured... Well, here you go AND, I just love the original factory VIS grips

Nice P35. They had one at a local pawn shop a while back missing safeties and such and wanted entirely too much for it. They do seem to have a lot of collector value if you search and price some on the net, at least the NAZI issue ones. Guy I used to work with has one, was his dad's bring home from WW2. I bet that thing is worth some collector value, never new it at the time.

I've yet to order the grips for my P64 I just bought. I want the thumb rest ones, thinkin' it'll help control the amazing amount of muzzle flip the little toot has. :D Might cost me a little width in the pocket, though. Haven't made up my mind, yet.
