I don't have a pic of my win 94 30-30, sorry. What I was wondering is if any of ya'll think it will be much of an investment to keep it unfired. It is NIB, the only thing is it is the old version with the cross-bolt safety. I know no one likes these, so do you think it is worth saving for some yrs down the road, or should i make it my brush gun/truck gun???

I wouldn't have thought of myself as a lever action sort of guy but somehow I've managed to acquire five of them?!

The first was Win M94 Trapper in .44 magnum. It's one of those made in 1994 and stamped with the centennial marking. I saw it in a shop and wanted it for no particular reason.

Then I got the Interarms M92 clone in .45 Colt. I wanted the 16" Trapper but they sent the Wrangler with the big loop, instead. I have never really liked it but I kept it anyway. Go figure.

Then I saw this lonely Model 94 30-30 (made in 1954) on the GunBroker auction site with a starting price of $165 and no bids. So I bid and bought it. Well, it is a pre-64 after all.

On another GB auction I found this 1956 Marlin. Pretty sad shape with some pitting on the barrel but it works great and I gave $165 for it, too.

Lastly, about a year ago I got to thinking that the little Henry lever .22 looked like fun so one day while in Wal-Mart- when they USED to sell guns :( - I saw this one and bagged it. Took three clerks 2 hours to complete the paperwork as they were terrified of making a mistake. I know why Wal-Mart quit selling guns.

If the gun is a ranger, shoot it, use it, If it happens to be a traditional 94 with nice walnut wood I might keep it NIB. Remember though there is nothing scarce about a 94 in 30-30. Might even consider selling it with the current market conditions, since it is a crossbolt model. just a thought.:)

use it. there only about 17 million made. it might go up in value. a gun like that though needs to be used to be appreciated. hell i will take it off your hands. but i cant tell you now it wont stay in the box.

Almost un-American to not have a lever action

Few of mine, left to right, 94 large loop wrangler in .44, the one below is also a 94 in 30-30 from 1950, then a 94 compact in .357 NIB, lesser grade wood on this rifle, as it's not a trapper, just a compact ranger. Last is a 94 from 1976, NIB it's also in 30-30.

My dad scored a Winchester 71 not that long ago, and it is pretty rad. I have a Winchester 94 in .30-30, and a Marlin lever in .22 (I can't remember the model number). I particularly like the Marlin because it is a man-sized rifle, not a carbine. I like carbines just fine usually, but for whatever reason, I like my levers to be on the big side.

I think you guys are right....It does it no justice sitting in a safe. It wouldn't be fullfilling its destiny if it didn't get to try to take a few deer out.:D Ah, heck. I was never one to sell a gun anyway. Think I will go de-virginize it soon.

Not all lever-actions.
(Please excuse the pumps.)
