Just for those who don't know, replace the "????" with something that rhymes with "duck" and starts with an "f".

After reading the article four times, I came to the conclusion that the author is somewhat miffed and that he is not overly partial to the South. I guess he failed to look at a map and see that the South comprises only 11 (or 13, depending on your point of view) of the red states. I really feel sorry for someone with so much bitterness and hatred; they can't be happy.

IIRC, false whois or admin contact info is usually grounds for having the domain yanked. Wonder who his ISP is...

I refuse to give him/her the satisfaction of claiming another hit to their webpage.

That is horrible, considering what a stronghold of rational and well thought out ideas the south is. The south was so progessive that it made that move with "all delibrate speed" on issues like desegregation, and now the south is on the forefront of such amazing freethought like not allowing evvviilll "science" in schools in favor of that well thought out idea of "creationism".

Ugh. Both sides are wrong. There are plenty of fantastic people in the south, but I think the divide between the people in this country is becoming frighteningly like the divide within the nation in the 1850's. And we all know how well the 1860's went........................

Yep, the South sure could have taken a lesson from those wise New Englanders on how to integrate. The smooth transition that Boston managed with forced busing after Garrity's order 30 years ago was a model to be followed for sure.

". . . [Assistant principal] Bob Jarvis [knocked] at the door to report that police had isolated the whites on the staircase, freeing the fire stairs on either side. Buses were drawn up in the adjacent alley, ready to receive the minority students. Detectives would lead them to safety. . . . Just then, the whites got wind of what was happening. 'They're getting away!' they shouted. 'They're going out the side!' Around the corner raced a dozen white boys, heaving stones at the buses as they rumbled down the alleys."

Racial tensions erupted on December 11, when a black student at South Boston High School stabbed a white classmate. White students ran around screaming "He's dead, he's dead. That black ****** killed him. He's dead, he's dead . . . Get the ******* at Southie." An angry mob quickly formed outside the high school, screaming "******* eat ????." The principal ordered the black students to go into the office and stay there, because the situation was so volatile that any black student found in the halls would be attacked. It was up to the black parents of Roxbury to get their children out safely, which they managed to do by sending three decoy buses as well as the two that would actually carry the children.

And, where was that first heart transplant in the US performed again?

REALLY bad analogy. By this argument CAPE TOWN, South Africa is the best place in the world as thats were the first heart transplant in the WORLD was conducted 7 months before the first transplant in the US which happened to have occured in Texas (St. Luke's Hospital in Houston to be exact).

Since we aren't comparing the world it's a perfectly good analogy, within the context of the discussion. If we're going to include any part of the planet we want then we can spend all day picking apart every other portion of the topic, too...

Except this time the liberals are the ones arguing states' rights, not the conservatives. And there isn't a geographical divide. If we follow through with your analogy, there will be fighting in every blue state, and some cities in the red states.

It's not an analogy. It's an illustrative example which disproves the posited thesis that the Southern US is backwards when compared to the Northern US.

And you are flat wrong about the first heart transplant to a man. But thanks for playing.

The first heart transplant to a man was performed in the US at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. (hotty totty :D)

And by this logic Cape Town Africa is not backwards in comparison to the South. I can live with that.
