Would your load out be different for SHTF vs TEOTWAWKI

For SHTF I would probably have a 1911, 12 gauge pump (Win 1300) and a lightwieght AR.
With a LBE for mags and bandolier for Shotty rounds.
For SHTF I am more likely to batten down the hatches and defend.

For TEOTWAWKI, I would either have a 45 cal Hawken Flintlock or my favorite 357's; A S&W 13 and 586 and a Marlin 1894c
Many folks would pick a 22 but they are not reloadable and others would take a serious fighting tool, but for the End of the world I am one to hunt and hide.

Perfessr, what are you going to reload with? I think the chance of coming across .357 components are about as likely as coming across whole .22 rounds. Unless you are going to carry the components to load at a later date, but is there any benefit to that?

It also seems to me that in the complete collapse of all civilization, you may want something reusable like knives or bows. Sort of like the advantage of a horse over a motorcycle in that situation. You can find grass to fuel your horse. You can also make arrows (not that I have any clue how a good arrow is made). Seems that firearms are too dependent upon manufactured components you may run out of and then you just have a big hunk of steel.

Don't get me wrong, I'd have that hunk of steel handy until I was sure all the bullets in the world had been used up. Well, steel and polymer. Glock in 9mm would be my weapon of choice since 9mm is the military standard, there's a better chance I could locate extra. Possibly a .40 as well since so many LE agencies seem to issue it. For long gun, I don't know if I would go with a .223, .308, or 12 gauge. I guess I would go with 12 gauge since it is what I have now of those three and it isn't like I'm getting a warning if I need it. Seems like a solid choice to me and is a popular chambering which would increase my likelihood of finding more.

SHTF - hicap 9mm, and possibly an M4a1, but more likely a good M1 Garand.

TEOTWAWKI - a good steel slingshot, a recurved bow, and a polearm.

:)

Badger, was that the Talking Heads? Very strange and hypnotic, yet appealing.... :D

For SHTF
A .22 pistol in the backpack.
Side Arm would be either a Sig 226 or Sig 220
Rifle: M1A
Shotgun: 870 with bird, buck and slugs
See post in Non Firearms related gear for BOB.

TEOTWAWKI
Explain: Are we being invaded by Alien Lifeforms?
Nuclear Holocast
Comet Hits the Earth
The Earth spun off its Axis and it about to hit the moon?
Billary Clinton becomes President for a 3rd term
Rosie ODonnel puts down her spoon.
We run out of natural gas
A low budget team wins F1

SHTF is more likely to be a short term problem like rioting and looting. where TEO- is more likely to be a long term, post explosion in congress during State of the Union, whatever shuts down the good ole USA.....

TEOTWAWKI:
Crosman 1377 pellet gun (able to take down small game, useless for SD, but able to carry thousands of rounds at a time)
SAR-1
Sharpened Czech Mauser bayo (good strong carbon steel, not likely to break anytime soon)

SHTF is just the SAR-1.

Same-same.

Hole-up & wait it out.

Anything supressed (.300 Whisper to .1-/22) would be a good idea.

SHTF or TEOFTWASWKI- matters not.

There'll be a period of absolute chaos.

Hole up, by-pass it all unscathed - or not - & come out afterwards - or not.

I caan't see doing anything with any kind of a horde-anything.

Well I still only have one. My Ruger SP101. So either way I would have that. Hopefully since daddy isn't using it I could also take the G19. :D Either way my main defense would be the weapon of my mind; all the rest are just tools. :neener:

should the world 'end' I think I'd keep all of my guns seeing as I'd stick to the house mostly. TEOTWAWKI wont necessarily force me out of the house.

But if it did? Well it would be the XD9, .22 rifle & Pistol, and the AK.

Same for a short term SHTF, but just the XD & AK.
