I too fall into the I'll believe it when I see it camp but I have also heard lots of chatter from some dealers etc. that SIG is indeed working on a domestic variant and attempting to come in under $1000, read $999.9999999+tax.
We will see. At any rate they certainly will not be Swiss Arms guns.
AR like accuracy, AK like reliability and durability and the most important thing is that it is not currently allowed and it will make all the anti's cry and loose more sleep if it somehow does materialize.
In reality it is a very good assault rifle that I think is a more balanced arm then the AR in terms of accuracy vs. reliability. ARs seem to be able to be made more accurate though. I am just a SIG guy and want my forbidden fruit.
In other news, Playboy centerfolds will start seeking out and dating dorky guys wholesale in the last quarter of 2005, abandoning their previous attraction only to the super rich or successful.
Sig Arms will not permit the 550 variants to be produced out of country, which will have to happen to get on the US shores, and even if they did give Sig Sauer the ok to do it, the price of a 550 built halfway as good as the real thing would cost $2,000.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: semi-auto 551s can be brought it as nominal sales samples/LE guns and then sold to civilians as SBRs (to which 922r doesn't apply). The problem I'm sure is that SIG would never play ball.
That's not a hard choice. If you find yourself singing "I like big butts and I cannot lie" on the way to work in the morning, get the FS2000. Otherwise, get the SIG. See? Easy!
God, please make it true. Please show us that all European based gun companies, even with facilities in the US, are not self-righteous arrogant conceited snivelling little party poopers like HK and some actually have enough business some actually have enough business sense to appeal to a civilian firearms market currently over 65 million strong and growing...
O but then I would have to decide between the SIG and the JLD first...hmm...
It would be worth it to have such a hard decision to make.
