Are there any good after market manufacturers of sig barrels? I have a refurb sig, which has probly had about 30k rounds through it, and was looking to replace it, just because. And was wondering if i should go sig factory, or aftermarket.

Some people at my range have good things to say about Bar-Sto barrels in their Sig's. Personally I'd go with a factory barrel since I find them to be rather accurate and easier to install.

Just because?????

Does it have any rifling in it????

Is it accurate? Is it reliable??????

If the answer to the above three questions is yes, why would you possibly want to replace it??????

Spend the money on ammo and practice time at the range. Putting in a new aftermarket barrel is asking for trouble if there is really nothing wrong with the original. How did you come up with your estimate of 30,000 rounds?? JMHO YMMV

I don't know if Barsto barrels are true drop ins. The way the Sig locks up at the ejection port with that blocky part of the barrel......I would be inclined to stick to factory barrels.

I sincerely doubt that 30k rounds has even impacted that barrel at all. As long as it has not been abused, it is probably in pretty much new condition. A new barrel simply for the sake of replacing it would be a waste of money imho.

I would also recommend Bar-Sto. I have a drop in 9mm bbl from them for my 229. They make two kinds of bbls. One is considered a drop in, while the other may take some smithing to get a perfect fit. The difference is reflected by the price. One thing about Bar-Sto though is that they are not cheap. I have easily over 10K rnds through mine and it still going strong.

As indicated above, unless you're having difficulty with the bbl you have now, there's really no reason to change it.
