I'm thinking about purchasing a sig p220 combat 45 does any one own or know anything about it i have a friend who owns one and he swears by it but he isn't exactly a gun expert i've fired it a few times and i like it but i would really like some feed back from others

P220 is a very solid platform

Combat model is a very solid option. Strong durability, and it looks cool (if you like the color config)

It's a win/win situation, if you don't mind the price tag

I've been very happy with my Sig 220s, just never had a reason the get the combat.

My blued alloy frame 220 was my carry/duty gun for quite a while and the stainless 220ST is my teaching gun...it is just a matter of weight

I have the P220 Combat and love it. One reason I wanted that model rather than the standard P220 is that it has a mil-spec M1913 Picatinny rail so it will fit a wide variety of attachments; most SIG pistols have a proprietary rail that that doesn't fit perfectly with third-party attachments. The color scheme also looks great. All the components are coated for corrosion resistance. Of course, it has the great accuracy, reliability, and ergonomics you'd expect from any P220 model (and SIG in general). I felt I got my money's worth despite the hefty price tag.

I have a P220 Combat and use it in the "limited ten" class in USPSA matches. It's a very good pistol from the factory, but even better once I swapped the short trigger for a standard trigger. You can see my friend's Combat with the standard short trigger and mine (top) with the older original trigger. I find that the short trigger pinches my finger and much prefer the larger radius of the older trigger. The Combat has one of the best DA/SA triggers I've ever used from SIG and significantly better than my all German SIGs.

I like the short trigger, but you're right that it can pinch your finger depending on how you pull. I think that's more of an issue if you pull with the finger joint, but I haven't had the problem pulling with the pad of the finger.

I use the pad of my trigger finger whether I'm shooting a pistol, revolver or rifle. I just prefer the original trigger since I have fairly large hands.

Thanx 1858 i too have large hands so i will probably do the same with the trigger your sig is a nice looking weapon i cant wait to get mine in july
