sig p220 vs. kimber 1911

A few months ago I bought a new P220 assembled from German parts. It has the narrower trigger and the stamped steel slide. It is a fantastic weapon. I've had several 1911s and sold them all over the years. I can't imagine selling my P220. It is a fantastic weapon. I do still have the itch for a 1911 once in a while but you are hard pressed to find a 1911 at the price of a P220 what will perform as well as the P220.

I love both the 1911 and Sig ... but for carry I went with the p220. I have three 1911s (Colt, Springfield and Sistema Colt), and had considered either the Kimber or the Sig 1911. But the p220 gave me the features I was looking for in both a carry and range piece - SA/DA, decocker, better sights (for me, at least), and a form factor I was most familiar with (having carried Sig 9mm models for some years).

Having said all that, the 1911 has a special place in my heart and is one of my favorite range toys.

I had to decide on one a couple of years ago. I went with the P220 Match SAO. My decision was based on my personal experience having owned P220's in the past, as well as a number of 1911's. By going with the model I chose I now have a gun that has been as reliable as my previous P220's and more accurate than any of my 1911's. I also don't have a grip safety to worry about, a feature I never learned to appreciate on the 1911 platform. The trigger is excellent to say the least on the match edition guns. Only changes I plan on making are swapping the target sights for more combat oriented sights, and getting a set of slimmer grips.
